Again, will someone show me where it was proven to be "smoke & mirrors"?

You posted a story from a website almost nobody has ever heard about yet you're asking about something that was discussed on many major websites?

With that, you have nothing concrete to refute it either. Tell me what that has to do with Milo being "smoke & mirrors" or not?

Well then if you don't believe it's "smoke & mirrors" why did you post a story basically stating that?  In fact the story goes on to call it a fiasco (an opinion since it can be easily argued that the demo achieved its goal of getting people talking about Natal) yet you post afterwards that the demo impressed you,  Do you always post stories that go completely against everything you believe?  Why promote something (from an obscure source at that) for something that you feel is false which is exactly what you did by posting this story?

speech is imposible whith the current technology, no for a console but for any computer in the world, and i mean true speech not an automaton, state machine, etc i mean real speech, and in that presentation thay wanted people to think milo could speak, that's Molyneux for you rigth there overhyping as always.

Hmmm.....now THAT'S a link that's trying to refute Milo. According to it, Milo wasn't "legit". If so, I'm backing away from defending it. Of course, it's still not complete proof but it's closer than arguing with someone who's just speculating.

I get it now, you think fiasco is a positive term when you posted the original story, makes sense now, well not really but I give up.  I mean I can now imagine you really liking a game and then posting an article from an obscure website calling it garbage.

I also thought pretty much all the regular posters in this forum had heard about the controversy but I guess you never have.  So I have to ask, you have 18,000 posts, were you away during last year's E3?  If not how did you not hear about one of the biggest stories that came out of it?

Edit: Wait, if this is all news to you why is it not in this thread: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=75672 ?

I think even IGN did an article on this and showed why the whole video was a fake

One article I found with a quick search
http://news.spong.com/article/18155/Lionheads-Project-Natal-Video-Fakery

But yea I doubt it will be that good even as a final product but I'll wait to see it in action myself before coming to a conclusion

I don't know if the demo they showed was real or not, but if they can actually bring out a final product along those lines that works well, then I'll be gettin a 360

Sigh, so much ignorance in this thread. Peter M has explicitly stated that they use lots of clever tricks to achieve the appeance of AI.

Maybe he did. Have you got a link?

I don't have time to do your searches for you.  Just find his post E3 interviews.  He clearly states that the whole point of Milo is to give the illusion of AI, which it does awesomely.

The Milo presentation was full of "clever tricks" ie smoke and mirrors as the skeptics have been claiming.

It's a remarkable illusion, even if the entire thing wasn't completely pre-scripted and rehearsed.

But for those who instantly bought the illusion as a working model (and maybe even still believe it was real-time "real"), consider the feasibility of being able to create something that polished (the demo essentially showcased a finished, working product) with so little time. Natal development kits simply weren't available long enough to come up with something that complex.

Case in point, during the live (not video) presentation, the MS host showed how unfinished the recognition coding was with his "ever wanted to see the bottom of your avatar's foot?" demonstration. That was believable because it was flawed and showed a work in progress.
