No, not all franchises are hitting the same highs as PS2, I agree. So far though, some of the most important ones have been: (Killzone 2 is already higher than it's predecessor, God of War III will most likely clear both predecessors - it's already nearly halfway to God of War 1), which just leaves Gran Turismo 5. |
I don't think Killzone is a fair comparison, due to the first one having a major case of the sucks.
That said, I'm not convinced a niche series such as Siren is a good comparison for GT5 either. The PS3 is great at selling big budget, well advertised titles, hence why MGS4 and God of war are doing so well and why most of us have high expectations for GT5. However, the PS3 is pretty bad at selling niche titles compare to the PS2 (hey, ignoring the Wii, what console isn't bad at selling niche titles compared to the PS2)
Edit:
On topic, we really have to answer a few questions here
Will MW2 hit 10 million
Will GT5 beat it to the punch?
Will GTA5 or another Cod game get there first
The answer to the first is a hearty 'most likely'
The second is a big 'no'. GT5 certainly has the capacity to sell 10 million, but it'll take a long time
We have heard nothing of GTA5, so it's not gonna release any time soon. I'm personally predicting it'll be released on the PSWii60, which will take a few sales away from the PS3 version. As for the next CoD, I dont think it'll beat its older brother to 10 million
