Oh god... get ready for Mikeb to come in and lecture us about the PS3 being better

Have you ever used compressed air on your system during its lifetime?........my baby just turned a year old and I am afraid it may drop sometime. I only use the thing for Gears anyways....until I get ME.

So, I called MS yesterday morning, when the guy asked me "How can I help you today?", I replied " I bet you can guess why I'm calling", the guy laughed and said, "Yes, you have 3 red lights flashing." Anywho, the process was quick and the agent was friendly, they tell me I will be getting a box in 7-10 days to put the 360 in. I understand that it should take a month to get it back. While i hope to get a new one with the HDMI and falcon, i doubt that will be the case, most people either get the same one back or an older refurb.

I think that now that the cat is out of the bag on this problem, that MS is doing a pretty good job here, though I wish they would throw me a bone as well, like 5000 MS points for my trouble, that would be nice. I have heard some stories of people getting free games when they get it back, we will see.

This event will in no way make me buy a PS3 today, someone (BenKenobi88) earlier said it right, I play the 360 because it has the games. The only thing that will change that is if and when PS3 gets a strong library, and then i will have both. I'll keep you all updated as I am sure you are all just dieing to know what happens :P

Oh, and no, i never used any compressed air on it, perhaps i should have, though it certainly was not that dusty.

well it looks like to me he already has the best two products in teh wii and the 360 just get hte 360 fixd and play the wii till you get it back and everything will be fine.

 I wonder if Microsoft fully fixed their issues with running out of coffins. 

 I am not suggesting that the console was super dusty, but all electronics are dust magnets. I had a video card attached to my PC that after 2 years was running really sluggish on all the games that I played on it. It looked clean from the outside but behind the heatsink plate was a heatsink caked with dust. I think that is what happens to some 360's. I always blast my 360 with compressed air every few months, though it may be doing nothing.

 One thing that makes this generation seem different (I may be wrong about this) is that the systems have both fans AND air holes, which can lead to terribly dusty enviroments. I used to do XBOX modding and repair(I did some ps2  repair/matinence) and they were pretty prestine in the inside. I havent seen a PS3 before but believe they have air holes and I know the 360 has like a million air holes, which may lead to premature failure, in addition to bad engineering.

keep us posted on your return. Though you will definitely get the newest fixes for heat, I doubt you will get an HDMI version as they are too new and I'm sure they still have plenty of old hardware to refurb and send out.

I would guess within a year or so they will have gone through enough machines that they may start sending out HDMI compatible if that is all they have at that time but as of today I suspect they are scarce.

Relax, go outside, read a book... Before you know it, you'll be back to gaming...
