Forums - Gaming - WRPGs more advanced than JRPGs agree?

wrpgs could be better if the story could make sense and the graphics could be like final fantasy imagine demon souls with a good story

Nintendo made me a gamer so I'd be stupid to ever try to forget that                                             like so many people nowadays

The Top  Best Consoles Are SNES and PSX

Currently Playing: 1.Monster Hunter tri 2.MegaMan 10

dissagree. WRPG's(that arent made by Bioware) need to start developing better stories and better characters otherwise JRPG's will always remain superior

Story's making sense... and then you bring in Final Fantasy? I mean XIII made no logical sense and XII could have been so much better if they'd actually told the story.

WRPGs can have good story's, just as JRPG story's can. They can also both have piss poor story's.

here's one game that is better then all jrpgs (although i loved ff13 and wkc) dragon age is by far better.

first time i play an rpg six times in a row.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

Have you tried the Witcher, Planescape Torment, Neverwinter Nights 2, KoToR 2 or Deus Ex? They're all games not made by Bioware that in terms of characters and stories are more or less on the same level of Bioware's games. I'd argue that Witcher and Planescape have much better and interesting characters and stories than most Bioware games.

Actually Scoobes, Neverwinter Nights 2 was better than the original, lol... I mean I'm not a big fan of WRPG's although I have played a lot, and I thought it was tons better than the original, Bioware seem to be so overrated these days, as well as Bethesda, because they made one, maybe two decent games, the rest are all mediocre yet people consider them gods of gaming, lol...

jrpgs = real fantasy

wrpgs =just another join the army commercial or some bad tolkien ripoff

Did Planescape Torment age well? I really want to play it.

Depends:

As a game it still plays well and whilst there is a fair bit of reading instead of the animation of today, it still manages to hold interest. It's 2D but beautiful.

Technically, my copy is fairly old but I seem to have some problems with crashing during magic (running in XP). There are probably fixes on the net but I haven't looked as I've been occupied with loadsa other games recently. These problems may have been fixed on newer copies so I'd check. If they're fixed then I thoroughly reccommend it.

I disagree

Barring KOTOR no plot in a WRPG has ever touched me at all.

Oblivion & KOTOR 1/2 are the only WRPG's I have really enjoyed (KOTOR for its story, Oblivion for its open world & guilds)

I disliked Fallout 3 & Dragon Age Origins ended up as a cliched mess.....I felt it got worse as I played on.

JRPG's give me timeless stories, WRPG's just haven't done that.

In terms of more advanced......what is more advanced? A branching storyline and choices you make or fun & innovative battle systems.

I would say the latter and JRPG's have that!
