CRYSIS 2: PS3 WILL HIT GRAPHICAL CEILING

""With each generation of game titles on PS3, usually every 2 years, the games improve significantly in its quality, mostly showing off in graphics," Glück told Play Magazine. "I think with Crysis 2 you will see the quality bar being set at a very high level that games will struggle to excel. We’re aiming to set a whole new benchmark with that game for all PS3 games."

"The Crytek dev doesn't think that there will be much room for improvement in future games either. "Still with an AAA title shipped on PS3, you get the chance to improve further, so the next game developed with CryEngine 3 after Crysis 2 on PS3 will not be worse and rather be more polished and have higher quality in all areas."

We'll just have to wait and see what Naughty Dog, Guerilla Games, and Santa Monica have to say about that.

I'm actually quite interested in what Crytek has to offer for the PS3. I don't really believe that a mulitplatform has the ability to be able to "hit the graphical ceiling" for the PS3. Unless, they put an incredible effort into it which doesn't really make any sense because its just a mulitplat. oh well, lets see what they have to offer.

what they are doing here is jus saying this just to please the PS3 community so they wont be left out. for the recorded it wont push the PS3 to where Naughty dog, GG and Santa monica have been

By accounts it sounds like Crysis 2 pushes it to places GG,SM and ND haven't been.

I seriously doubt that multiplatform release which is bound to be as similar as it can get on both consoles can challange exclusive titles tailored specificaly for given hardware. Maybe Crytek will best already released games, but in the end, I expect exclusive titles to stand victorious.

Gears of War 3, Killzone 3 and future projects of ND and SM should best Crysis 2, if they are released after it.

crysis 2 if its to thier claims will need massive space to fit all textures and grafix in, its a multiplat game so has to be made with dvd limit in mind.

final game will look good, but i expect it to look good in a MW2 way, great art etc

You know, Uncharted 1 said it pushed the PS3 to its max as well...

Its like having a glass an having it FULL of rocks
If I asked you, is the glass full? You would say yes
Then I could pour in a bunch of smaller rocks to fill in between the bigger rocks, and ask you is it full? and you would say yes..

Then I could take some sand and pour it into the glass filling the spaces between the big and small rocks, I would ask you is it full, and you would say yes...

Then I would fill the class with water, along with the sand, small rocks and big rocks... and you would say it is full..

Always makes me mad when people say a system has been PUSHED TO ITS MAX

As it has not, you just need to optimize your code better...

I cold make a game that would utilize all the SPU's of a PS3 and make it look like pong, sure
I am using 100% of the system, but could it do better? Of course it could

I believe Crysis 2 will still run better in the PC
