^he should be free now, as all other souls from hades. But you can't never be sure Santa Monica will follow up with that thread of the story or if the "other" one Zeus spoke about to Gaia is indeed this long lost brother to Kratos.

He definitely is free now: he's referenced by a letter that he wrote sitting outside of Hades's palace.

I've always wondered what was up with Athena, I thought maybe I missed something.

well, i already kinda talked about that...

but to sum it up... she exists on a higher plane now... and can view stuff objectively... zeus created her from himself, so she was very loyal/loved him... but no longer... and understands that he must be destroyed for the world to be brought to balance. thou she becomes power hungry and wants to be the sole hope for the world.

damn dude you know your shxt..nice ^_^

One thing that does bother me a little is that when Kratos opens the box, Zeus is not shocked by this, or is he such a good bluffer? Zeus himself took the box to Olympus and put it inside the flame 'cause he believed there was still power inside it. It's not clear if he knew Athena had summoned Hope and locked it inside with the evils (I'd say he knew about it), but it's certain he was guarding that box 'cause there was no doubt there was power still in it.

So when the box opens again, and is empty, I think he must have thought "wtf?? then where's the power?", was his reaction to mock Kratos so quick that he didn't realize this (that the power had to be somewhere else), or did he throw an instantaneous high-roller bluff?

It would seem to suggest that Zeus didn't know it was in there - that Athena placed Hope in there in secret. Zeus may not have known he was infected with Fear, either, so it may be that he thought the evil returned to the box after Kratos killed Ares.

1.) So Kratos already has the Blade of Olympus by the start of God of War 3. Why not just use it all the time? After all, it ended the great war and single-handedly defeated all the titans. It's odd that he only brings it out during certain moments. If he wanted to, he can just destroy Olympus with just one move, and wouldn't need to even climb the damn thing (judging by the cinematic in God of War 2, Zeus destroyed all the titans in one blow).

2.) Why did the gods allow Kratos to open Pandora's Box when they knew it would be a totally horrible thing to open it? It's so weird that the very reason Zeus wants to kill Kratos is because of the fear that was released from the box, but it was he who allowed that box to be opened in the first place.

3.) What's Athena's angle here? She has Kratos open the box, though she knew that the contents would eventually destroy the gods, but she sacrificed herself to save Zeus, then helps Kratos to kill him, and then wants her power back in the end. I don't understand her motives. She's like pulling a new face every game.

4.) Why was Kratos so obsessed with opening the box again in God of War 3? He already has the power to kill a god, I mean, up to that point, he's killed at least 10 gods already. I don't understand why he still had to go through all of that trouble to open the box again only to find it empty, since obviously, he already opened it before.

5.) Kratos vows that "all of Olympus shall die" but fails to kill Aphrodite. He hates all the gods, why not kill her too after "finishing" his business?

6.) I'm not too sure, but I just rewatched the ending of God of War 2 and kinda saw Chronos as one of the titans climbing Olympus. Also, in God of War 1, he was wandering around in the desert of lost souls. How is it that in God of War 3, he's found wandering around in Tartarus?

Would appreciate some explanations.

1) I imagine it would run out of power or some such thing. Maybe he needs a God to power it, so he can only use it on gods? But then why doesn't he stab them at the outset? The only real explanation is that it would be gamebreaking.

2) They wanted Ares dead. They didn't care if Kratos was cursed. They didn't realise that THEY would be cursed.

3) I suppose when she died, she saw what she could do with true power. Zeus had to die first.

4) Because he'd tried to kill Zeus and failed three times.

5) She was weak and defenceless, and her death would do nothing.

6) I'm not even going to go here. I avoid thinking about time paradoxes >_<

@kuuthra yeah, it's pretty obvious the Gods didn't realize they had been infected with the evils released from the box, and probably Athena placed Hope inside without Zeus knowing of it. But even if the box was still containing the evils, wouldn't Zeus react a "little" shocked to see it empty? I mean he was fooled too, but he makes it look like he wasn't...is that a bluff? or he's just so mad he's not thinking clear enough to be bothered by that thought?

lol at this post. If I wanted to think about the plot I'd watch a movie. I just bought this game,so I really did'nt read the post. If the rest of the game is like the opening scence then,I'm not going to complain about the plot. I did'nt think they could improve on the epic battles, but boy was I wrong.

Yeah, maybe. Or maybe he was just like "Hoo geez all right at least he won't be able to kill me hahaha woo I'll think about this later"

Sooo, just to clear this up, is Kratos dead or what? I'm referring to the blood trail at the end of the credits.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

He's dead as Hell. I tend to think something dragged off his corpse. Like his brother.
