Forums - Sony - Some odd things about God of War (spoilers).

1.) So Kratos already has the Blade of Olympus by the start of God of War 3. Why not just use it all the time? After all, it ended the great war and single-handedly defeated all the titans. It's odd that he only brings it out during certain moments. If he wanted to, he can just destroy Olympus with just one move, and wouldn't need to even climb the damn thing (judging by the cinematic in God of War 2, Zeus destroyed all the titans in one blow).

2.) Why did the gods allow Kratos to open Pandora's Box when they knew it would be a totally horrible thing to open it? It's so weird that the very reason Zeus wants to kill Kratos is because of the fear that was released from the box, but it was he who allowed that box to be opened in the first place.

3.) What's Athena's angle here? She has Kratos open the box, though she knew that the contents would eventually destroy the gods, but she sacrificed herself to save Zeus, then helps Kratos to kill him, and then wants her power back in the end. I don't understand her motives. She's like pulling a new face every game.

4.) Why was Kratos so obsessed with opening the box again in God of War 3? He already has the power to kill a god, I mean, up to that point, he's killed at least 10 gods already. I don't understand why he still had to go through all of that trouble to open the box again only to find it empty, since obviously, he already opened it before.

5.) Kratos vows that "all of Olympus shall die" but fails to kill Aphrodite. He hates all the gods, why not kill her too after "finishing" his business?

6.) I'm not too sure, but I just rewatched the ending of God of War 2 and kinda saw Chronos as one of the titans climbing Olympus. Also, in God of War 1, he was wandering around in the desert of lost souls. How is it that in God of War 3, he's found wandering around in Tartarus?

Would appreciate some explanations.

1. because he's not a god any more in god of war 3, Me thinks the swords true power can only be used by the gods of olympus hence its called blade of olympus.

2.Because zeus probly didn't think kratos would find it at all, if you remember hephestus(former forger god) said that he made zeus belive that the box would never be found if its hidden in a temple behind a titan in the lost desert, well after kratos found it zeus beat the crap out of hephestus and tormented him.

3.LOL same Im confused about Athena here...

4.Dunno maybe because zeus is actually too powerful for him? and If you remember at the end of god of war 3 that "hope" is what saved kratos from zeus eternal darkness thingy which I think was the power inside pandora? I remember that girl pandora mentioning it to kratos......

1. The sword of olympus is useless without a god putting its powers into it... that is the impressions i got during the 2nd game... zeus put all his powers into it and used it to defeat the titans... kratos put all his powers into it at the start of the 2nd game... now it may be that since kratos is a fallen god, he can't properly take the power back and thus can only use it in spurts... but that is just my guess.. its would suck to use it all the time, gameplay wise...

2. They allowed him to open it because zeus favored kratos above most other of his demi-god children and he favored athena the most among his godly children (since she is a part of him and was created by him without a female's womb). Ares was attacking her city and since they couldn't start a war among the god's (look at what kratos ended up doing!!) they had to resort to a 3rd-party getting the job done... and it was the only way... i think they didn't understand the scale of evil inside it, so they weren't as afraid.

3. Athena mentions that she exists on a higher plane now... and is only able to objectively view the world... unlike before where the love for zeus clouded her judgement (the first encounter in hades)... so she is not the same athena that died... he motives and personality have changed. for better or for worse is up to you to decide.

4. The box still contained the power to kill a god of any power... kratos returned that power after killing ares... he didn't retain it... he was made a god after he tried to kill himself... zeus put back all the evil that was released and athena fearing the worst if it was released, secretly put into it hope... zeus didn't know about the hope part... that stayed with kratos... he put the powers back into it, but the seed of fear and anger had already grown in his heart... i don't understand why the second opening did nothing but it may have something to do with kratos not really wanting the power (he tried to stop pandora).... or that it was a one time use thing.

5. He vowed that if "all of olympus will deny me my revenge... then all of olympus will die"... she didn't deny him anything... she sexed him up and told him what to do... she aided him... he is not that much of a punk lol... same thing with the smith god, he only ended up killing him after he tried to get in his way. so memo is... don't get in kratos' way.

6. no, that was another dude, in gow3, he is made of lots of rocks... kinda like "the thing" from the fantastic four.... kronos was defeated before zeus used the blade. and he was wandering tartarus because zeus banished him there after kratos ended up getting pandora's box... he was pissed off and went nuts.

^ thank you.. kinda explains everything..

except that kronos was in the desert of lost souls originally in god of war 1. what was he doing in tartarus?

Zeus banished him there, after kratos took the box from pandora's temble

Remember Zeus is a little bastard that is gripped with fear

Because they didn't think about all of these things in GoW1 and 2, and pretty much figured them out on the go?

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

One thing was really bugging me while I was playing the game.....

How come every god  in GOW3 is mad at you for killing Ares when they helped you do as such.....I believe Hades mentioned sometjing along those lines and he gave you the "souls of the underworld" attack in GOW1.

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

You mustn't point out oddities or flaws in the God of War series because that makes you a fanboy!

I've always wondered what was up with Athena, I thought maybe I missed something.

1.) It'd break the gameplay, and the sword isn't even that damn useful on its own. More, it helps make it more dramatic when he does tear it out - and, lastly, the Sword is the only weapon he has that's just a weapon. All the other weapons serve a distinct purpose - and are more useful, generally, in combat.

2.) It's not really clear why they - wait a second, who sent him after Pandora's Box? It wasn't the gods. It was the Oracle of Delphi, wasn't it?

3.) Athena sought to rule the world - actually in keeping with the prediction that she would overthrow Zeus back when it was thoguht that she would be born male (you will remember that this is why Zeus swallowed Metis). She wants to rule the world. Also she's a great liar!

4.) He impaled Zeus on the Blade of Olympus and didn't kill him, which is about 10x mor than could be said for any god up to that point. Most of them di from broken necks, Ares died from being impaled on bronze. Zeus took the most powerful weapon in the universe straight to tthe chest and got back up and spit out some blood and walked away.

5.) Aphrodite, Hestia, Dionysus, and other unseen gods all died when Olympus collapsed. He killed her, even if it wasn't by impaling her personally. More, you're akskign why he walked away form her? He only said he would kill gods who actively stood against him. Aphrodite didn't. Remember, when he said "All of Olympus will die" was when Athena said "All of Olympus will stand against you."

6.) Cronos and Atlas never scaled Olympus. There's another titan who looks kind of like him, only much hairier.

I trust these answered your questions.
