1. because he's not a god any more in god of war 3, Me thinks the swords true power can only be used by the gods of olympus hence its called blade of olympus.
2.Because zeus probly didn't think kratos would find it at all, if you remember hephestus(former forger god) said that he made zeus belive that the box would never be found if its hidden in a temple behind a titan in the lost desert, well after kratos found it zeus beat the crap out of hephestus and tormented him.
3.LOL same Im confused about Athena here...
4.Dunno maybe because zeus is actually too powerful for him? and If you remember at the end of god of war 3 that "hope" is what saved kratos from zeus eternal darkness thingy which I think was the power inside pandora? I remember that girl pandora mentioning it to kratos......
