The guy said: ''as you go back from the camera you loose precision'' he didn't say natal could not detect deth

thanks for fixing my misquote.  i'm quoting in hopes more people read your comment. xD

He also said "very much X, Y" this is just misinformation, and directly states that it can't detect depth, since X, Y is the 2D plane and X, Y, Z is the 3D where depth comes into play.

I'll have to listen again but what I heard Koller say was not that Natal couldn't do z-axis motion detection but that its precision in z-axis motion detection is reduced the further you get from the camera. And he's claiming the Move knob gives better z-axis precision over a greater range of distance from the camera. I'd guess Move z-axis precision reduces with distance too, but perhaps significant loss of precision starts at a greater distance.

Still I don't think it's that much of an advantage because I reckon 99% of gamers will be playing within 3 metres of the camera which I bet has a more than adequate z-axis precision for the Natal. Sony needs to NOT try to out camera the higher tech camera. They need to focus on the benefits the Move has that don't exist on Natal which is the flexibility and immersion the handheld units provide.

I think for the types of games we are used to seeing on consoles, with the knowledge we have right now, the Move is going to be better. I know this because I've been using the Move since 2007 to play games on my Wii. MS's challange is to break down the barriers that are clearly inherent in the "hardcore" gamers minds, with new and different types of games that aren't what we expect, or even have thought of yet, but are so fun and engaging that you can't help but play it. It's a pretty tall order, and I have pretty huge doubts about what it will do, but it can be done. The Move has already been done, so proof of it working is already out there.

IMO both Move and Natal are failures because they are inferior imitations of established products already on the market. Move = Wiimote. Natal = Eye Toy.

Move and Natal do nothing for the average gamer. This is just an attempt to win over casual markets. But I think they have bought Wiis already. 4 years is too late to change the dynamics of the video game industry.

Leave the casual gamer market to Nintendo and the Wii. PS3 and 360 have differentiated themselves from the Wii and appeal more to hardcore gamers. Wii is a cash in and Nintendo have captured the casual market which will come and go.

Personally i think Natal already has a BIG FAIL STAMP - I mean come on why would you wanan play a game with no controller? feels weird as hell! feels like your not even playing at all.

Also i don't know how Move will compete and draw in the same amount of attention as the Wii
the only game am interested in is probably the fighting game
