Forums - Sales - Wii Fit in Japan - Hit or Miss?

243,000 first week sales in Japan = hit. Sold out, I'm guessing.

The streets will flow with the blood of the nonbelievers. >:)

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

The Wii Balace Board will have to move about 2 million units before developers start making games for it. Expect the first games to be either low budget games or ports with tagged on controls. However give me a fun snowboarding game and I will be happy. Also Nintendo really needs to release a Wii with Wii fit bundled in to increase the Wii Board userbase. Think about it, it would be perfect. Sorry we are out of Wii's and the moment but we still have these Wii's that include Wii fit for 50 dollars more. Make more money, and increase Wii Board userbase all at the same time.

I'd rather see a line of fitness games, maybe get that Taebo guy to make a few games, I think it would be huge

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Wii Fit is a hit, 240k in one week dont you all remember the first brain age it wasnt that good launching by stayed and has sold millions in Japan alone, then Brain age @ hit and there were rioting. Wii Fit is a hit its legs will be for a long time at least as long as original brain age which debuted almost three years ago and is still a good seller for the DS.

O.K., but just for the sake of posterity.

Wii Fit in Japan - Hit or Miss: Post Mortem & Virtual Crow

Miss

I think it is going to sell quite well, but more than 1 million? I don't think so.

To be honest, I think it is going to struggle to reach 500,000 by the end of the year, and the 'legs' aren't going to be that good either.

I see Wii fit being Nintendo's biggest flop since the virtual boy. (and feel free to taunt me if I turn out wrong)

I agree. I think it will do at least 250k its first week under heavy supply constraints, and sell very well for months on end, perhaps hitting near 1.5 million in Japan alone by the end of February.
