Told you so. Sony asked for it.

Let the hacking commence.

I'm sick of hearing your childish comments.

Sony removed this for one reason, to try to stop the possible pirating in the future.

I've said it before, the only time I see you post on these forums is when there is news about PS3 and that loser trying to hack it.

Grow up.

His "I told you so" is childish, but the rest isn't.  You are correct, that's why Sony diid it, but, in their short sightedness, all they did was make people develop hacks faster or CFW where there was no intent to make CFW before.

As I stated last week, Sony just guaranteed the PS3 would be hacked. Geohot had walked away from the PS3 scene and now they've just dragged him back, even worse for them is him now getting an infectus chip to start work on hacking the slims too. I'm surprised he sorted a work around so quickly, I expected it to be a few weeks.

He needs the "Other OS" functionality for his hack development so he is trying to restore it

Its not like he was hacking the system to enable the "Other OS" in the first place

In other words, if sony not only removes access but just plain removes the functionality for OtherOS, Geohot and other people won't be able to do anything that remotely related to hacking and pirating.

What's Sony waiting for?

You should always care about loosing a feature even if you don't use it.

that makes no sense at all.

How does that not make sense (get past his typo)?  When is losing a feature a good thing?  The answer is when you get nothing in return.  We lost other OS support, sure I don't use it, but some other people do with legit reasons.  One should always be sad when anything is taken from them.

Honestly I can't believe there are so many people out there that consistently defend Sony just because they never had an interest in OtherOS. It shouldn't be that hard to think about how you would feel if you did use OtherOS and this update came along.

Let's put it another way, how would you guys feel if Sony removed all forms of backwards compatibility (other than downloaded games) because a particular exploit took advantage of how the systems have BC?

God, some of you are so fucking short-sighted sometimes.

If Sony then put out firmware to make it harder for people to use that backward compatibility for hacking / pirating purposes and people start using CFW to avoid having to pay for games / play by the rules, then why shouldn't a company protect its products?

Be angry with the people who want to use Other OS for malicious purposes, they are the ones to blame in the end.

If I don't use it,than why should I be sad about it? Should I have been happy that it was just there?

^^And how would you feel if your a company trying to prevent a potential hack for your system that could lead into piracy?
