Forums - General - iPad has only 256MB RAM!? WTF?

Thinking about it. My Pentium 2 PC has 256 RAM.

My left nut has more ram than that.

And I ain't kidding.

No wonder it can only run one application at a time with such limited RAM. The iPad is nothing more then a over sized iPhone and a better name for it should be iCrap there are much better tablets coming out in the near future that are actual capable of doing something besides looking good.

Wow, that's really crap. I couldn't believe it at first and had to do my own Google search. I thought they were just talking about a seperate batch of video RAM. Even 3 yr old PC games take up 500+ Mb of RAM alone.

I'll bet that the Ipad's OS is nowhere near as hungry as Windows is for Ram.

That's crazy. I would never pay that much for something like that. People need to learn to wait. With Apple it's like in the next 2 months they have an upgrade. It's very easy to see, no predictions are needed. Anything that is launch is always the "beta tester" sets... Stay clear! The only company I trust with launch hardware is Nintendo.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

That's a lot of RAM for a Pentium 2.  My Pentium 4 had 512MB of RAM and that was in 2002.  Pretty much almost every PC made in the last ten years has more RAM then the iPad.

That, plus multitasking is limited, plus it's running apps which are designed for a mobile device instead of apps which are designed for a desktop.

It looks like they just shoved the innards of the iPhone into an iPad and call it a day.

this.

I gotta give them credit though, its just an iPhone with a big screen and they're going to make millions off of it.
