Yet Demons Souls outsold just about every ATLUS game since the company came into existence?

Demon Souls and Persona couldn't be any more different. Which is why I said I think PS3 will probably end up with the ARPG Shin Megami spinoffs.

No it hasn't.  At least not for Atlus, though it is Atlus USA's best seller ever (P4 is 2nd, TC Wii is 3rd).

Still, I don't see much correlation between DS and Persona...

PSP most likely. They already gauged the userbase with the portable Personas.
It will bomb in the West though.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

PS2, PSP and the nextgen nintendo handheld...

i sure hope it is a PS3 game, i really want a HD Personna

Ugh, don't want to see real-looking Persona characters. Whether they keep the Persona 3/4 style or have Kaneko do the design, I'd love both, but hell no to realistic characters.

Why not? Something like the Final Fantasy VIII of Personas. :D

Regardless of how awesome the game could be, its niche-ness won't call for huge development budget necessary to be on PS3/Xbox360.

I think it will appear on PSP, since it's more of a Playstation brand and PSP will not require as much budget.

See now this statement makes me confused because it's like you're saying noone would ever make a niche game for the PS3/360 and yet I just got finished playing Resonance of Fate, played Demon's Souls before that, and can't wait for 3D Dot Game Heroes and Atelier Rorona.

You may think that HD console games have to have huge budgets for developers to even think about trying it, but they don't.

OT: I despise doing these types of predictions myself where there's is little to no evidence one way or another (reminds me of KH3) so I will abstain.  Just thought I'd argue against the idea that Niche cannot exist on HD consoles.

It's niche in such a way that it is a guaranteed sale for the fan.

Let's say, 200k (pulling outta my ass apparently).

They would easily make a (larger) profit by releasing on PSP, and not PS3.

I sometimes wonder how  Nintendo would be faring right now in Japan without the DS. It seems like it's the only thing keeping just about every Japanese third party and IP from switching to Sony.

At first I was wondering why you were quoting me and not saying anything. Then I realized you edited my post.

Well, to answer your question, Nintendo would still be doing fine. The Wii is still far superior to the PSP at moving software in Japan, even if its hardware sales lag behind. The difference is that Nintendo has a killer combo of two systems (the Wii and DS) that are great at selling software in the Japanese market. Sony only has one.

The Wii is superior at moving Nintendo games, we were talking about 3rd party and frankly, The Wii wish it had the PSP support. In fact, The PS3 while it doesnt sell nearly as well as the Wii still get as many third if not more than the Wii.
