For PS3 Software success we should blame strong Japan SW sales, FFXIII and Sony games lineup.

FF XIII was a december game in japan

world wide this quarter more ps3 games have sold then have sold in Japan. Also Japan has the lowest ps3 atach rate with less than 4 games per system.

yakuza 4 and fist of the north star helped.

Ps3 price drop confirmed aswell.

Yeah but FFXIII PS3 is much more successful on west them 360 version.

Take out all major exclusive (2010 release)

Total PS3 SW - GOW3 - Heavy Rain - MAG - Yakuza 4 - = 21,922,208
Total X360 SW - Mass Effect 2 = 21,529,823

Some may said FFXIII, Fist of the North Star, Resonance of Fate sold more on PS3 but Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Bioshock 2, Alien vs Predator also sold more on X360.

Exclusive and Japan is not the main reason PS3 sold more SW than but PS3 slim effect made PS3 more affordable and attract more gamer who prefer PS3 over X360 ( but could not afford it. Thats why PS3 games had better legs than X360. MW2, ASC2, Bioshock 2 (almost did it this week), Darksider, Bayonetta (west), GTAIV all had better opening on X360 but legs goes to PS3.

NO , games only have being better legs on Ps3 because many people so piracy on 360 , milions and thats the reason Ps3 games may have better legs ... Dont Expect shooters and RPg´s to have better legs even with piracy on 360. Many people playign offline on 360 pirate their games...

The hw gap is about 200K more in favor of PS3 if you go by kowenicki graphs on the main page. He includes the week of Dec 27th till Jan 2nd in his numbers though.
