Possibly. I know Actraiser 2 also comes close, though...

I agree with Actraiser 2 too. Not only it was a downgrade in playability, they also took entire chunks of gameplay (the city defender part of Actraiser was the best part of the game IMO).

But yeah, this belongs in another thread which i'm too bored to create now since i'm trying to finish Vagrant Story >_<

Haha, yeah, I loved the city-building part. Shame how it went away in 2...

Killzone 2 easily. The first one was pure garbage. The second one is pure win.

Uncharted improved huge as well, but the first one was a AAA game in its own right.

I actually like the first Mass Effect and Uncharted's better than the sequels. Hmmm. . . well, how about Half Life 2

Oh my god, I still have faith in humanity. I agree with you on Diablo 2, IMO one of the biggest improvements in a sequel in history of games. Adding hundreds of new weapons, way more characters than the first, much more areas to explore, and fun boss fights.

 

If we are talking about sequels this generation... I really don't know as I only see so little added into a sequel these days that I don't consider a sequel but just a small expansion to the first.
