You better believe it. Each year builds upon the last and the record success we're seeing now will only blow outward with every consecutive year. Viral. Wii is viral. THAT'S why it will sell like none other.

Not only will it beat PS2's worldwide sales record, not only will it double it selling 240 Million minimum, but it will do it all EASILY. The hard road will be its ability to hit 500 Million but guaranteed is the 240 Million.

tbh i can understand that you think this is all crazy leo, but in truth, despite the more realistic numbers (PS3 outselling Wii could happen at any numbers) your prediction is more crazy than Wii 200mil because you set a specific timeframe,...expecting what you thought depended on one thing...unlikely going by recent Wii sales and silly for the time of year... that being the Wii suddenly bombing (and PS3 going on to a decent Christmas)

There are many of factors involved for the Wii to "go nuclear" those mainly revolving around but not totally dependant on the "blue ocean" thing, like China/Korea/India or the success of Wii Fit in excercising enthusiast circles (or just the Japanese generally) or how big the gaming community in Europe can become (Japan may be reaching it's limit for it's population, but there are a lot of places in PAL regions where gaming is a non-entity)
Also of course on the life of both the Wii, and the other two systems (and whether they release "two PS3s ductaped together" PS4)

I will admit 500 million is galactic in proportion and has in my opinion little chance at al of happening (250 million is what i see possible as an absolute best case scenario) but your own prediction, possibly only made to stir things up and get back comments like this from us folk with reasoning, had even less going for it.

If it were to sell 500 million consoles in its lifespan, it's life span would have to be 21 years:

If they produce 2 million consoles per month that would make 24 million consoles each year

500/24 = 21 years, they would have to sell out every year for 21 years to sell 500 million consoles!!

Even if they could make 4 million consoles each month it would still take 10 years of the Wii selling out every year to reach that much.

I'll be really surprised if it beats the PS2 

It may beat it in hardware sold but it isnt gunna sell more software then the PS2. It doesnt look like there are many games being sold for the Wii beside Wii Sports and Wii play (which one comes with the package and the other comes with a free controller). Hell look at Mario Galaxy which is suppost to be Wii's biggest game this year. It dropped like a rock in the chartz compaired to other mario games.

The Wii can sell hardware which is good for Nintendo but it cant sell software which is bad for 3rd party. The only Software that ever sells on Nintendo's hardware are first party games. There are rare times when 3rd party sells a lot but it hasnt happened yet.

Guess you'll just have to wait and see like everyone else.

Viral Wii + China + Japan + Europe + The Americas + Australia/New Zealand + the other PAL markets = minimum 240,000,000 lifetime Wii sold worldwide/maximum approximate around 500,000,000+ lifetime Wii sold.

They will sell 20 Million by this year's end which is unprecedented. They will go on to sell 60 Million by next year's end which will be once again unprecedented. You don't believe it, you can't conceive it and many people can't but when it comes to pass then that 240,000,000 to 500,000,000 range won't look so crazy after all. Oh and believe me it won't take 21 years to pull that off.

First off its IMPOSSIBLE for the wii to hit 20 million since nintendo is only making 2 million wii's from now to years end. This means the wii will barely hit 17 million.

Secound off, I am going to give you a heart breaking rpediction, In my prediction the wii wont hit 30 million by 08's end.

 The point I was trying to make is that with Japan unless the wii rebounds it will struggle to do what the ps2 did in Japan and that's sell over 20 million units there alone.

Much will depend if Ninty can turn "Wii" into a brand - such that future iterations are also considered "Wii".

I say this, because in 4-5 years Ninty will almost certainly have to refresh the hardware (but maybe keep releasing old Wii units) - and if this new console is also considering a "Wii" - then certainly.

But at the insane rate that its selling, they could easily reach:

2008: 20m

2009: 50m

2010: 90m

2011: 130m

We'll have to see how many more units the PS2 can sell. Another 10m in 3 years? Quite likely.
