Nomura's also expressing his disappointment at pressure to make the game "360-friendly", and he's concerned that the company could make the decision to make it multiplat without consulting him, like they did with FFXIII.

Apparently on parts of the interview not visible above, he says that FFXIII's subtle relationship between Fang and Vanille was well noted and received by the consumers, so he decided to make Noctis gay. He's single, though, and it's not going to be shoved in the face of gamers.

Okay, I'll admit that my Japanese knowledge is limited at best, but I only see one reference in there to Versus 13, with it being in the same sentence as Agito, and no mention of homosexuality. I think there may be an actual FF13 article, but I'm not seeing this claim in said pic.

If it IS an April Fool's, it's taking a jab at a significant number of the followers of the company and genre audience, which is probably a very bad idea.

If it ISN'T, I can't imagine how it would matter to a vast number of people in the West. Doesn't everyone have relatives/friends/coworkers etc. that they know and love who are LGBT? Why shouldn't there be a gay protagonist to a game that has, to Western audiences, a very stereotypically gay aesthetic in pretty much every respect?

What possible difference could it make to playing the game? I'd have no interest in riding a giant chocobo and fighting the beasts of Gran Pulse in real life, but I still like the games. Gay people buy into and connect with tons of straight stories emotionally. Who cares who the make-believe dude likes in his make-believe relationship? Are Western audiences really so shallow and unimaginative?



Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

LOL! Seraphic was the first thing that came to my mind when I read the title. He likes Noctis. He included him in his Pretty Boy thread.
