Forums - Gaming - Chrono Trigger ds will be highest rated jrpg this gen: who wants to bet?

I was bored so I felt like betting, who wants to?

the current metascore is 92

Around the Network

you are all too scared of the mighty port
I find it impressive that a 13 yr. old port is that high ^_^

It's more a shame, really, since the DS port is a mere shadow of the original's awesomeness. It's clear that the mechanics have been tinkered with, and the extra stuff screams as though it was tacked on. It feels half-hearted now...

only 92?! wtf is this! If any game deserves 1000/100 it is Chrono Trigger.

I'm actually playing it right now, pretty fun so far!

nobody wants to bet?

Impressive score.

I would say it depends on a potential Final Fantasy VII Remake

Oh... And MAYBE if Demon's Souls gets released in Europe. It COULD get boosted up quite a bit on Meta (If you want to count it as a JRPG)

I very much doubt any other jrpg this gen will get higher then that. Critical perception of the genre is at an all time low.

Its a shame, since something like Dragon Quest IX or Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story should be able to score higher. But game critics are well known for only giving high scores to well established or popular games now adays. And it'll be a cold day in hell when critics give a Dragon Quest game a score over 9.0.  Eventhough Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger were overseen by the same people.

Six upcoming games you should look into:
