because all of tem were GOW fans, and aren't gettnig it because its on PS3. They also refuse to buy a PS3 (because the online sucks, and it has no games other than god of war and mgs, regardless of what it wins in the vgas)

Nope, I only have one friend who is a GOW fan, and he's buying a PS3 just for GOW 3.  So, I was just making a guesstimation on my part.  I just have the belief that GOW 3 isn't doing as well as it might have out of the gate because many GOW fans don't have a PS3 yet.  If I'm right, then that would mean strong legs for the next few weeks which would explain the second sentence in my post.

GoW3 sales are fine and over the previous games (for now)... just a comparison:

GoW2 724,365 265,346 149,159
GoW3 1,109,163 320,129 ?
Diff% +53% +21%  

GoW3 has no Japan numbers (yet) and GoW2 sales is 3.36M LTD.

PS. I didn't buy my copy yet (May is the month).

His post blew my mind. I can't believe that people see second week sales and assume a title is going to sell less than it's predecessors, even though first week sales are much larger and second week sales are larger as well.

I for one am sure that that game will reach the sales of it's predecessors.

The way I see it the slimming of the PS3 has probably accounted for about 25% of PS3's resurgence, and the pricecut 75%. I reckon same sort of thing would apply to the 360. Slimming alone won't do much, price cutting and putting some distance between its price and the PS3 is what would be necessary to create a latge and sustained weekly sales lead for the 360.

On PS3 sales generally, I think Americas at least is in for a bit of a yo-yo graph for the next little while. One week over 100K the next week down around 75-80K.

Looks like 360 will stay steady and golden. It's done very well over the last month or so, no reason to think things will change.

I never said that it wouldn't reach the success of it's predecesors, just that it's not going to happen as quickly as I would have thought.   Sorry for all the confusion about my original post.
