Of the options given, Half-Life easily. HL for singleplayer with CounterStrike/TeamFortress for multiplayer.

if we're counting games not listed,

System Shock and Deus Ex beat all for single player FPS.

Tribes & Counterstrike beat all for multiplayer FPS.

If you went buy multiple games I would say Call of Duty , Half Life , then Halo, If you go buy one single game that was just pure excellence, It would have to be Killzone 2 for me. But all those games up there are superb , hard to say. This is why I say you have to have both a PS3 and 360, if you are a true gamer. lol

Killzone 2. Then Halo I guess. All the others are pretty meh IMO.

Except battlefield, but I haven't played the 2nd yet.

The only problem is that they're not "pure" FPS games . They're weird genre melding pieces of pure genius.

It wasn't stated in the rules that hyrbids couldn't be included ;)

I've got to go with Half-Life/Counterstrike.
