Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto: Violent games may damage “the potential of what games can do”

That's only a stigma to the current base of gamers, which is shown to not be the mainstream.

And the top grossing films are more often action films, not violent films.

Don't tell me it isn't true. Anyone I know over 30 thinks games are for children only. And calls me childish for still playing them at 22.

Studies suggest that it's just the opposite.

Oh also, look at avatar. Try counting how many people died in that film. And tell me it isn't violent.

Avatar is an action film, and PG-13, so it can't be that violent. You're confusing the two.

And just because the people you know think that does not represent the whole mainstream.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

It is violent. Violent is not a bad thing. I am not talking anything over the top. But violence sells. And I would like to see these charts. Because many people still see video games as childish. Not just people I know either.

I do not pretend to know where to look for them, but violence adds to the image of juvenility, rather than subtracting from it.

I don't think it works that way. So many mothers ad crap try to get stuff banned for having curses and being violent. It is obviously not as you say. If it was. Why would we not be able to play these games and see these movies before 18?

I love violence, its fun.

I'm throwing in the towel, you can have this argument.

Ok, I could care less about how old people not related to the industry think about videogames and "mindless violence". Im a 20 year old male and I like violence, give me God of war 3, The sex Pistols and Old Boy.

Anyway, what an ignorant person may think about god of war not knowing anything about games is irrelevant and should remain that way, they can play other games or do other things, I dont care. So, even if Miyamoto is right about people from outside perceptions about videogames to me is the same as people that dont know about music and say Metal is just loud sound and a guy screaming.
