It's a bad idea... Even if games worked without it, not having the HDD would ruin much of the PS3 experience. Especially for those who had to scrape up enough to get 1... and would now have to buy HDD (still cheaper the MS) just to enjoy PSN goodies

that would lead to a lot of angry customers, that want an answer why some their games are not running.. probably a PR disaster, so that's not an option

I voted ratarded, since you wouldn't be able to play more than half the games. 

It constantly writes, reads and deletes data on the HDD while you're playing. It's technically not an install but you can't play the game without having 1GB free. Still a much better method that sucking 3-5GB's of the user's HDD.

LOL, I thought this had something to do with the Gameroom thing just out on the 360.

But like people here have said its stupid as the PS3 needs the HDD to work.

PS3 won't work without a HDD.
