Persona 5 confirmed!

Persona fans rejoice! Katsura Hashino, Director of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4, has confirmed that a new game in the Persona series is on the way. In fact, his team is preparing to start work on the game as we speak! Hashino confirmed they were about to begin development in a recent Dengeki PlayStation interview.

No platform or details were released. All we know is that Persona 5 is definitely a thing that is happening. Until now, we'd heard plenty of rumors about the game, including that it will be a PlayStation 3 release. That's very reasonable to believe, since Persona can't exist on the PS2 forever. In any case, this is exciting news for series fans. 

Dale North is unavailable for comment, but we're fairly certain he's furiously fapping in a bathroom right now!

YES! Got introduced to the series last summer and I loved every second of the games I've played, especially the fourth one.

Definitely can't wait. Hopefully it won't be on an handheld. I don't want the music and everything to be limited by it.



Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Well I haven't heard about it and its great news.
I also think its fairly certain it will be on a console rather than portable if its a numbered SMT.

Huh?? Persona's a spinoff from the SMT series proper in Japan. SMT is added to the title for the American releases only; it is not referenced on the Japanese copy. Not to mention that Strange Journey has been called SMT 4, and that's on the DS. Coupling with Atlus' recent releases on portable systems (notably the Persona games on PSP), I'd actually not be surprised to see it there, but I can see it going either way.
