Is it that important to celebrate each million the PS3 sells?....i can understand 5 or 10.

Yea but if they only celebrated every 5, 10 million etc etc, they would only be able to celebrate once a year

although i don't remember who made them i am quite sure there were Wii passes x million threads too....and i believe there was a 360 passes 11million and 12 as well.

I can tolerate going up in 10s or maybe 5s because they do help put things into perspective for people (wow 10 million is a lot....or wow 25 million etc) but in reality those numbers don't mean anything either....the only reason we all think 10 million is special is because we work out numbers in base 10, which is easier for us possibly due to 10 fingers or something.
milestones that properly mean something are things like when Wii passed 360, or when the 360 passes the Japanese total of original xboxes.

PS3 passing 6 million has as much meaning as PS3 passing 6,328,517

This is the same reason i don't like when Soriku announces the number of posts he has all the time.....the only reason i noticed i had gone into 4 figures (again using base 10...as 4 figures would be a different number using a different base) is because i was complaining at Soriku for doing this.

 Well duh,  6,328,517 is not a prime number, however, let the party hats fly when we hit 6,328,541
