Forums - Nintendo - Finally we will have Pokemon in 3D!!!

What many including me have wanted is a true 3D Pokemon game. As the 2D games have now supported online games the next step is an MMORPG Pokemon game were you can meet other people and team up and hunt Pokemon and fight against other player around the world.

As Nintendo have said they want to keep this formula to the hand-held consoles and that is why we never got a true Pokemon RPG on the home consoles.

But now that with the new 3DS the Pokemon games will not be in 2D and the system will be capable of having great online functionality.

About the new Pokemon game, is it confirmed that it will be coming to the DS? I mean why do that when Nintendo could have developed it for the new system and release it as a launch title.

The 3DS can do 2D too, so that doesn't guarantee that it will be 3D.

I'm not sure if GameFreak want to deviate too far from what has been a winning formula for the past 4 generations.

Maybe battles in 3D and the rest in 2D?

i'd LOVE a real pokemon game in 3D (stereoscopic 3D too)

i hope we get better sound effects too (not just those bleeps & bloops), that's be way cool :D

@fordy

but i think that it will be the next step in a Pokemon game as a 3D world will unlock many possibilities

@Forest-spirit

no i think full 3D as the system will be more than capable

I remember an interview about them talking about the sounds of Pokemon and that it would take too much space of the memory but with the new system it will surely support bigger cards. So better sound is bound to happen.

I think Konami or somebody is using a 4 or 5 gigabytes card on the DS right now for a game.

I don't believe that. Most DS games only use up 32-128 MB (the latter for the really hefty ones), and recently, I believe some even went as high as 256 MB. But a GB seems incredibly unlikely, let alone several GB's. Most Wii games don't even need that much. The cost of that would be too high as well, imo.

I see. Well it's easy to confuse those, GB's and Gb's.

1 Gigabit (Gb) = 128 MB, so 4 would be 512 MB, double that of 256 (which is the largest capacity for DS games up until now, as far as I know).

8 bits in a byte, so 4 gigabit is 512MB
