Naughty Dog is doing an awsome job, but pushing the standards? Uncharted 2 is undoubtably one of the best looking games on any platform, but it is easly topped by God of War 3. The reason Naughty Dog are being praised is because they made an all around great game, and it got great critical acclaim, and commercial success.
Setting graphics standards is going to happen with any new PS3 exclusive from SCEWWS. It is just they way Sony runs the buisnes. Polyphony and Evolution Studios will push the bar with racing games this year with GT5 and MS3. Team Ico and Zipper will raise the bar for adventure and TPS's with TLG and SC4. Then in 2011 Gurrilia and Naughty Dog will be back on top.

PS3 still is no were near its potential and every group at Sony has the resouces to make the best looking game on the platform. Naughty Dog will contrinue to have the best looking game every time they release a new title, but it is because of the structure of SCEWWS. Not that Naughty Dog is not a large reason as to why the bar will continue to raise.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Absolutely yes, Naughty Dog absolutely brought the goods for this generation, although I still think Uncharted 1 was really great as well, it deserved so much more attention, I think we can all now trust Naughty Dog, as they have proved to be nothing short of brilliant dev's for the PS3.

PS VITA = LIFE

The official Vita thread http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=130023&page=1

Naughty Dog's incredible coding skills are pretty BA just like many other Sony first party developers. What gets me is that, the Naughty Dog engine 2.0 only utilizes up to 90% of the Cell's power, and God of War 3 only utilizes 50%; Yet, God of War 3 is one of the best looking games on the PS3 right now, one that even rivals Uncharted 2. So just as KBG29 has stated, each developer is going to try to top one another by coming out with an incredible game that is up to standards or one that sets the bar much higher.

In my opinion, I think the PS3 needs a game that fully maximizes its SPUs.

Just to clarify, not that I am disagreeing, but Uncharted is a 3rd person shooter, where you can go up to any point in the world and inspect it closely. Even going so far as to zoom in using a scope.

God of War 3 on the other hand has an uncontrollable camera, where you are shown what you need to see. Nothing more. You cannot look up, or down, or zoom (unless you read certain books) at whatever point of the map you feel like. Your perspective is controlled for you.

Comparing the two and saying one "easily" beats the other one, although valid in some ways, is kind of redundant seeing as they are completely different games that show you different things.

If you mean for technically excellent titles with polish then yes, probably. Although Media Molecule, the guys behind Wipeout HD and Santa Monica ain't no slouches either.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I really don't want devs to consider U2, KZ2 and GoW3 standards. Not every dev has the resources to do it. Also, not every game pushes the numbers needed to support those budgets [U2 has been confirmed to not cost much compared to most titles, though].

4 ≈ One

Yes, ND already delivered two of the must-have games this gen. Incredible work!

What makes the Uncharteds such stunners goes beyond pixel count and shinyness (they have that though). They worked hard on draw distances and background, and most importantly animations. By making human beings that move so organically, and on top of it making them compelling characters in their own rights, you can't help but think "Wow, this is so REAL!" I would argue that Uncharted 2 is THE best looking game on the PS3 due to this fact. I haven't yet played GoW3, but with a fixed camera I could see shinier textures being pretty easy to do. Also, if Kratos moves as near-digitally as he did in the first 2, the animations won't be close to the Uncharted games.
