5 reasons why FFXIII is the best in the series. Agree or disagree?

Yes, Agreed. 77 13.68%

No, Not exactly. 385 68.38%

It's FF, I love it regardless! 97 17.23%

5 - The new battle system is by far my favorite part of the game. It gives you that turnbased feeling with a taste of strategy and action. The AI is pretty decent, but damnit I wish I could set up buff/debuffing orders.....

4 - Im fine with these. Towns have no other purpose but to look pretty. Id rather have more gameplay and environmental focus than towns anyday. The lack of a map does not bother me at all. It is actually very refreshing.

3 -This is my second favorite part of the game. The problem with a welldrawn NON LINEAR story, is you sometimes forget what you are doing. It is like reading a novel and halfway through you put it down and start reading another. Give that a few days and you find yourself lost (story wise and place wise). I play multiple games at a time and I appreciate Final Fantasy pushing you on the story, so I do not get lost.

2 - Very much liked his character. He seemed the most realistic of them all. Did he make the game for me tho? Not really, but he was definitely one of the brighter spots.

1 - Maybe. I guess only time will tell. While going to a broader audience is fine and very good thing, did it actually effect the series as much as it should have? I do not know but it is good to see that sales are doing great on both systems. If FFVXIII goes multiplat, we will have our answer.

FFXIII is my favorite post PS1 FF game.  6 and 9 are still my favorites.

So A+ CGI.

His points are all crap. For me, the lack of towns and areas hurt the series. Imo this is by far the worst game in the series. Also, in an RPG, how can this be considered a good thing: "The story is more focused, the game is more level appropriate since there's no chance of being leveled too high or too low, and there's no immersion-breaking freedom."?? That sound like the worst thing ever in a game where you have to level up to get past certain obstacles, bosses, etc. And that Sazh dude is one of the most ridiculous characters I have ever witnessed.

Actually FF13 is far better than 7,8,9, and slightly better than 4, 10. Its much much much more fun to play, has far better characters & a much more interesting world than any of those games had.

Yeah, all those corridors sure are interesting.

"Hey, look! This hallway is a jungle or something!"

World = Lore, myth, fal'cie, l'cie, pulse, cocoon (reason for its creation), how they were made, legends within that world.....and so much more

a much more interesting world than any other FF and somehow unique compared to the others.

Besides the chapter in FF13 where its not a corridoor isn't even the best one

FF4 had better everything, and it even sent you to the moon. FF13 just sends you across the street- a street with invisible walls on either side. The SNES is clearly the most powerful console ever. Any response to this post will be taken as an admission that I am correct.

5. That sisyem looks so cool and fresh (agree)
4. Maybe
3. Soooo agree
2. Of what I seen, Sazh is the most boring character, so disagree
1. Maybe

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

5. It's ok, but it doesn't bring anything unseen to the genre. It's worse than in FF XII, VII, X, and X-2. Not to mention JRPGs other than Final Fantasies.

4. JRPGs are by standard very far from your Dungeons & Dragons, real RPGs. To put it simply, JRPGs are not RPGs. Even if the characters or their equipment gather levels it doesn't make the game an RPG. Nor do world maps, towns, random NPCs, or quests. FF XIII is an action game disguised as a JRPG. It's one of the most simplistic JRPGs ever, in a way, the culmination of JRPGs.

3. I beat Final Fantasy XIII and I'm still waiting for a story.

2. Sazh is the only likable character in FF XIII. He is actually one of the best FF characters. I just wished Vanille and Hope were cut from the final build. I mean geez, when FF X came out I thought Tidus was the most annoying FF character eva, then came Vaan but FF XIII took the cake with not just Hope but also Vanille. I'm a grown man, I've played games all my life and I've been a Final Fantasy fan ever since FF VII was released in Europe, and I don't want to look at a preteen crying over his dead mother. Come on Squenix, you came up with Sazh and then gave us Hope. As Kratos himself, slayer of gods, put it "Hope is for the weak."

1. This point has nothing to do with Final Fantasy XIII being the best in the series. There is a reason why Final Fantasy X-2 has a higher metascore than Final Fantasy XIII, it's simply a better game.

Sorry ,but whoever thinks this game is the best of the series hasnt played the rest or have played only X and XIII. IV ,VI,VII,VIII,IX are legends. They cant be compared to this empty game.

This! this is where im at.... FF Xlll is awesome game I cannot deny that, but the only ppl that wouldn't is 1. ppl who never played or didnt all the other, o r Tetsuya Nomura whores who give anything a AAAA thats hes involved in....it just amazing some ppl feel that way.

Nomura has not been involved in any FF game except for FFVII (in which he was the original author) and now Final Fantasy Versus XIII. The only involvement he has had in the other FF games is that he was the one who did the character designs. Why do people always talk like Numura has been deeply involved in every FF made from 7 and up other then in the character designs?

To me FF13 is up there with ff10. It's Awesome, but It is not enough to beat out ff8 and ff7. I do love it though. I love that it is set up to drive the story forward. As much as I love world maps, I like to get right into it. I love linearity - I don't see why people hate it. Maybe because I'm old skool and most 80's/90's were linear. Besides the characters - I really love the battle system. It's fast fun on the fly type of play, that enriches the experience that makes each battle different and less taxing on the grinding. Overall - It's equal 3rd on my list.

  Unleash The Beast!

End of 2011 Sales: Wii = 90mil, 360 = 61mil, PS3= 60mil

these are the 5 reasons why 13 is the worst in the series for a common FF fan but for me i agree 50%

5., 4., 3.) Disagree
2.) Sazh is one of my favourite FFXIII characters, definitly better than any other FFXIII protagonist.
1.) How in the hell does this qualifies it for best of the series?

FFXIII isn't even in my personal Top 5...
