5 reasons why FFXIII is the best in the series. Agree or disagree?

Yes, Agreed. 77 13.68%

No, Not exactly. 385 68.38%

It's FF, I love it regardless! 97 17.23%

5 - the new battle system is alright, but lets be honest -- having the game do so much of the work for players isn't fun. (If they added the ability to change characters mid battle it would of been a bit better, maybe even a gambit system...)

4 - The world felt waaay to empty. The should of had some towns in game. ill accept no world map, but there was far to few NPC's to interact with, far to few sidequests, etc.

3 - It was nice how the game got straight to the point but the story is not the best in the series. imo Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy X had better stories. FFXIII's story has a few annoying flaws what with the the way Fal'cie acting to the fact that they made Pulse L'Cie the enemy... wouldn't making the final boss the enemy of all of Cocoon work out alot better and faster...

2- Yea his character was pretty awesome.

1- Erm no. Being multi platform doesn't make a game better. If anything it reduces the games quality because the developers cannot optimize the game as much as they need to cater for the lowest common denominator (360's reduced disk capacity, PS3's limited DDR3 RAM, etc)

** Overall i really enjoyed FFXIII but it just isn't the best the in series in my opinion at least.

Definitely not my favorite in the series, but enjoyable nonetheless. I agree with the final reason.

5. The battle system is too easy for me. I'll admit that it's intense, but it's just not FF to me.
4. I hate that there are no towns.
3. I really don't like how the story is presented. To be honest, it is MUCH too linear for my tastes. Run towards destination, fight, run towards destination, watch cutscene. And repeat. I'd rather have the cutscenes and gameplay separate. I can't really keep the story in my head if I'm constantly in these battles. That said, the story isn't anything mind-blowing so far.
2. If I wanted realistic characters, I wouldn't be playing JRPGs... nothing against Sazh, but really...?
1. Multiplatform = More money = Best FF in the series? What?

I don't disagree with your statement, but I got to ask, what chapter are you? Because when you get to the final chapters, trust me, it's going to be all but easy, especially if you start doing missions.

lol it's funny cause me and my buddy were recently talking baout how we think FFXIII has the most challenging battle system in the entire series. There is literally no room to slip up. One or two mistakes in judgement and your done for.

That's because you have less control over your characters which makes the combat seem as linear as the game. Often I felt like I was forced into making my choices.

This battle system was challenging in the wrong way by limiting your options which it totally the opposite with a game like Vagrant Story. You had tons of options with a very challenging battle system. This is the worst battle system in the series because of the lack of options.

No towns or world map means no exploring.

FF13 was fun but forgetable and forgetable is something no FF game has  in ages.   The bad guys were phoned in and the story was uninspired.  For all of the good points, there are two bad points.  That is not a plus.  I have to disagree with the article.

You think you die and everything will be sugar and rainbows?

It's forgetable but then you go and quote a line from the game? One made by Sazh of all characters!

Please.

As to my own opinion. I liked it very much.

The battle system can be boring at times, it's true, but most of the time it was fast and furious with all the Paradigm shifting. I also NEVER used Auto-Battle. So I had a lot more fun with all the intensity and speed required to get through the battles.

The story was rather interesting. It was a very original mythos. Two worlds intrinsically connected, the smaller one carved out of the bigger one as the deities waged war against each other. Humans being bred for the slaughter and puppeteered by said deities through reversed psychology in order to bring a death that was desired to the one that held everything in place in that smaller world.

I do not agree on the realistic characters part, as it had some moments and situations that were a bit too clichéd, but they were appropriate characters for the time and place they were living in. My favourite was Fang. And it was Fang long before she turned into Ragnarok. An entity born out of despair and hopelessness to bring about the end of the world.

So, forgetable? Absolutely not. And that's not even mentioning the constant threads and discussions on it.

It's a FF game that rests between the old JRPG traditions while making strides into new territory. The result was unsettling and people are having a hard time adjusting. Because it's halfway between the old and the new and because it's such a different beast from the most requested games this gen (eg: FPS).

In battles, I spend about 90% of the time switching between job rolls and pressing X. In most cases when I know how to defeat a monster, all I do is press X. There is no thinking at all.

Once again, it all depends on what chapter you are. Also, are you using Auto-Battle or are you choosing your own commands?

It doesn't take long to know what "Auto" will do so I use "auto" except when i want to do something different. Still Paradigm shifts made the real difference so even on the harder battles I just hit "X" 95% of the time. A hint that the combat system is a little shallow is all your characters "auto" heal at the end of every battle. Of course less micromanagement yet micromanagement is  suppose to be part of role playing.

Yeah.  I watch the trailer all the time.  It gives me chills.  FF13 wasn't a bad game.  It was all I played for about a month when it first came out.  But in the end, it never gave me a sense of accomplishment, satisfaction, or wonder.  For every thing the game did right (graphics, battle system), I can name two things the game did wrong (weapon upgrades, story) But since I quoted Sazh, it must be awesome, huh?

Thank you.

wheres the

So you name it a forgetable game, but watch the trailer all the time. If it is such a disappointment for you, just let it go.

About the story, I've made my opinion very clear a few posts ago.
