Well it is getting the respect it deserves, IMO, With all due respect the PS3 deserves more for becoming such a great value, hence the huge turnaround.

In your opinion. In truth, it is not getting half the respect it deserves. Japan still wont budge no matter how good the 360 is or even how far it  sets itself apart from Sony. In Europe, now that the GT5 should win out the year.

same thing happens in america to ps3 on a smaller scale. Americans love American companies.

This is a very retarded post. You really don't know Americans and assume things just because the PS3 isn't winning in America.

Actually, I know it since xbox first came out. At launch, there were news articles like, "Finally, an American video game system".

Maybe I'm generalizing, but I remember the launch, and being an American console was important to the people I knew.

Probably because the first videogame was created in America and the roots are very strong over here. Not only that, but you are reading from a American media piece which whole heartedly I cannot disagree. America has every right if not more to have a videogame system than everyone, including Japan. Trust me...if the PS3 was $400 from the very beginning.....this gen would've been much more competitive. America loves quality at a good price, hence why the 360 was purchased. We are by no means a nationalistic nation and if we find quality in an outsider product we will buy it over an American one. The American government gives us no incentive to buy an American product over an outsider product.

As for the launch of the American launch of the Xbox vs the PS2, the American sales of the PS2 destroyed that of the Xbox. Why might you ask? I cannot speak for all Americans, but where I live the Xbox was the elitist and tech lovers system, much like how the PS3 is recieved over here. They boasted the graphics and the quality and the PS2's failure rate (which was significantly lower than this gens), but all this came at the cost of a low amount of games as opposed to the competitor who came out earlier. The PS2 sold more than three times that of the Xbox in America and sold the most consoles out of any other country or continent world wide. A lot of PC gamers bought the Xbox as a secondary to their PC's. As you can see...the Xbox has switched roles with the PS3 this gen in terms of approach and appeal but the only difference is it has Sony's emblem slapped on it. People need to take notice to the resembling nature.

u guys support GM, ford, chryler even what they made was crap.  and go against many things the south, europe and asia decide,

metric system, hiroshima nature atc, etc.

they are abit nationalistic but that isn't a bad thing really, money flows in the country improving business, and they support their own, though others make better.

microsoft managed to get foot on sony due having multiplatform games are on the 360  and the console being cheaper, not because it was better quality than ps3.

u saw yourself, ps3 still it's more expensive, and it outselling the 360, so it's either at 200$ difference and won't happen again.

Hello, I have noticed that the Xbox 360 has some high quality games such as Gears of war 1/2, Halo 3, Fable 3, Forza 2/3, etc.

The Xbox 360 also plays DVDs and has digital distibution for movies and games.

Xbox live is full of amazing content and well worth its price, it has arguably the best online for any home entertainment system.

Why is it that it gets beat by the PS3 in Europe (Excluding UK)? The Price is right, it sells like hotcakes in United States/Canada, why doesnt it sell well in Europe? What more could the public want? Any guesses? It already has racing games and soccer games so idk...

- The PS3 has bluray allowing HD films and larger games

- The 360 is not even close to the media center that the PS3 is, which can play music & videos off a data stick, and stream almost any size movie wirelessly without a problem.

- Free online

- Inbuilt wireless

- More powerful console than the 360 (Please don't argue this one, facts are facts)
    - Therefore exclusives have the ability to look better

- More high profile exclusives which do not make the cross over to PC, unlike many 360 titles, some being superior (Splinter Cell, L4D, ME1 & 2, Gears of War etc)

- Looses less exclusive content than the 360, some being superior/improved for PS3(GTA & Fallout DLC, Tales of Vesperia, Stars Ocean etc)

- 360 has a notorious reliability history

^^Nope, This gen sony managed to get its own foot up its arse. AND THAT IS A FACT.

Here is some credit it definitely deserves and it probably isn't getting enough for:

The 360 has some decent features, but it does have some pretty blaring flaws that you would have to be a fanboy not to accept.

One blaringly obvious flaw would be the fact that I do not think there has been a more faulty console in the history of gaming. Any other gaming system would have been dead in the water if they had reached anywhere near the failure rates that the 360 has achieved. Only MS could afford to take the hit financially and publicly that results from ignoring quality control in order to push a knowingly unreliable product onto the market and still keep people buying their product.  In that regard, once again we as americans tend to overlook that alot easier being as MS is an american company. People from other countries probably take that a little more to heart.

How about a console that touts that it bypasses blu-ray for digital download and content being the Future, but then forces their customers to be confined to small, inaedequate, and extremely overpriced hard drives. Then turns around and releases a system with no hdd(basically meaning you can't really download much of anything). I mean, If they are pushing towards digital downloads/content then why turn around and release a sku that has no hdd. That really is a little contradictory.

This is kind of how it stacks up...

I view the 3 systems as such:

Nintendo is Cocky but they are dedicated to the gaming experience. They want to get as many people playing their games as they can.

Sony Wants control of your living room, they see the PS brand as a way to be your media hub, for not just games but everything else. Sony is Cocky as well, but Thier redeeming asset is that They put alot of emphasis on quality. Even though gaming isn't their end goal, they are at least committed to providing you with quality. That is something that can be said across the boards for sony.

Microsoft is cocky, they also want control of your living room, for the same reasons as MS. They will do whatever it takes to get a console into your home. The Advantage for MS is pretty much that it can throw however much money it needs to at anything to get the results it needs.

completly off-topic but there is a reason why the metric system isn't used to US and there is only one country to blame for that and that is France! Of course if you always slept through history class I wouldn't blame you~~

As an American and being exposed to a variety of cultures, let me make a very general statement about most Americans.  Americans tend to be trite, cliche, knee jerk, shallow, routine, one dimensional, and most prone to instant gratification.  So it seems that the 360 is not getting the respect it deserves because it should be less that what it currently is.  Please understand that as an American, I live in a great country with a lot of great people.  But in general, most of the rest of the world seems to have a bit more character than most Americans.  Just saying.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

when I made my decision to either buy an xbox or a ps3 (I am in PAL)
the first thing that came in my mind was RROD I was really scared about it back than and it was a big turn-off for me.
another reason was that the xbox controller has AAA batteries, and trust me I used to buy AAA batteries every month for my wireless mouse, before I looked at the bills and switched to cable

the xbox 360 didn't come out with an 8 core gimmick, it does everything it intended to do well which is to play games and to offer the best online expereince it can.

I think I've explained this half a dozen times, but I'll go again.

It's called first impressions. Microsoft made a really bad first impression with the Xbox. They provided a bulky, fairly ugly box without a whole lot of notable exclusive games (there were a lot of smaller, high quality exclusive games, but those didn't get as much attention). Sure, Nintendo screwed up even more last generation, but they also were a notable brand name with decades of history in the console space (as well as having the ultra-successful Game Boy Advance). Microsoft's first chance to prove themselves in the console space was a colossal failure.

The fact that they've managed to recover this much and be so successful shows a lot of respect for the 360 (maybe even more than it deserves). Again, it's a vague question, so you can't really say.

Each console has their strong points for respect:

Xbox 360 has its respect as it invented console online gaming, which PSN is still playing catch up. A lot of people won't jump ship to PS3 simply because their friends are all on Live.

Wii of course revolution the way people play games and attract a large crowds of non-gamers into buying gaming consoles, Sony and M$ used to laugh at motion gaming and now they keep their mouth shut and jump in the waggle battle.

PS3 on the other hand is the most value for money console, it comes with the most advance features (Blue-ray and Cell) and has games with best graphics hands down.

So all hail the 3!!!
