Forums - General - Americans time to reload and aim;....

Since the passage of health care reform last weekend, there has been increasingly violent language coming from opponents of the legislation, along with vandalism directed at Democratic members of Congress.

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has now done her part to raise the rhetorical intensity, telling her Twitter followers, "Commonsense Conservatives & lovers of America: 'Don't Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!'"

Palin then refers supporters to her Facebook page, where she once again employs gun imagery in offering a list of 20 potentially vulnerable pro-reform Democrats in Congress.

"We’re paying particular attention to those House members who voted in favor of Obamacare and represent districts that Senator John McCain and I carried during the 2008 election," Palin writes. "We’ll aim for these races and many others." This is followed by a map of the United States showing gun crosshairs over the targeted districts.

Commentators from the left have reacted with alarm to what might be taken as an incitement to violence. "Most (but probably not all) Palin supporters may insist the tuckered-out former Alaska governor meant 'reload' metaphorically," notes Salon's Joan Walsh. "But in a country where angry right-wingers carry guns to see the president speak, and spit on African-American congressmen, I thought it was a chilling statement. Will any Republican denounce Palin's language?"

Its such a scary thought isnt it?   I actually shivered when I read your post.

At least she would have been better than Biden

This whole health care thing is so fucked up and just being done in a completely wrong way. Not even the congressman understand the bill. They are just voting for it because Obama says it is good.

This health reform bill will ravage our economy far worse than it is now if it is allowed to be made law in the current form.

And a heart beat away from the most powerful person in the world.

Its scary that such an unintelligient person could become so powerful.  Regardless of their political standing, leaders need to be intelligent people.  A lot of people don't like George Bush, but he was a Yale graduate, and contrary to his public image a very intelligent person.  Palin, on the other hand is a complete moron, graduating from a small community college and launching an unsuccessful career as a sportscaster, even naming her child after the hometown of ESPN.  She should probably be in a trailer park somewhere.

Sarah Palin is a frightening person, and spitting on someone, particularly spitting on someone because of the color of their skin should get you jail time and IMHO sterilization. Fuck those people, seriously.

Anyone who actually took that as an insightment to violence is pretty stupid. It's language that's literally no different then any other language used by anybody.

As for the increased vandalism? I'm guessing that happens to anyone when they pass unpopular legislation.

In a country where news organizations obscure the race of gun toting right-wingers (the guy was black) and the president's union friends beat up people who demonstrate against his hair-brained policies (another black guy!), it is hysterical to watch bed-wetting leftists like Salon's Joan Walsh frantically try to play the race card.
