The Wife is out of town this weekend, what to play?

Batman: Arkham Asylum 25 26.32%

Bioshock 2 5 5.26%

Deadly Premonition 7 7.37%

Gears of War 2 3 3.16%

Mass Effect 2 24 25.26%

Total:95

well, you're already so close to finishing one game... you have to realize that that is a strength.

When you can't stand finishing one game. Finish the other, it'll reenergize you.
Also, don't buy so many games.
It's not the habit that makes you not finish games..it's the huge access you have given yourself by owning so many that has done that.

Pirates run into a similar problem when they have so many games to play they aren't able to really appreciate the game the way it's meant to be, because they are distracted by the access to NEW games.

i suggest you play Batman , since you already finished ME2 and nearly finished Gears and finished GoW (if you start GoW 2 now you'll feel bored) .

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

Why are you posting this? it doesn't have pretty boys!

I would just LOVE to answer this question, but if i do i risk being called sexist and/or a jerk. i'll tell you on your wall instead. :)

@Twes- Haha... well played, still the mini games are actually really fun in this game! but i'd say go for Bioshock 2, because big daddehs are awesome. :)

EDIT: @Severance- NEVER MIND! your fucking wall scares me, i'll message you instead.

Honestly, I was burnt out after every God of War game, fun as they feel at first. I can't imagine jumping right from one into the next, though that's just me.

I also really question anyone wanting to give Deadly Premonition "a chance" based on the nice Destructoid review.

Games that are so bad they're good are a nice idea, but the fact is, even huge games like Gears of War 2 and God of War are already B Movies as far as the writing is concerned -- the concept of "so bad it's good" pretty much applies to every video game story ever penned.

Except for the ones which are so bad they're bad, I guess -- which kinda comes down to personal taste, and whether or not your roommate or girlfriend are there to snicker in the background at the cheesy dialog and make you feel self-conscious during cutscenes. (Which is what we like to call the "immersion" factor) I'm not sure why a game with fucked up play mechanics gets extra props, except of course that referencing David Lynch at least proves the people writing your scenarios are over 21.

I would suggest Gears of War 2, but I seem to remember you being friend-phobic when it comes to couch-based gameplay, and that's the only way I've ever played that game.  Great coop campaign, especially if you've got a friend who likes to make awkward bromance jokes a la Mystery Science Theater 3000.

I still have to play through Bioshock 1... Damn that game has good music.

Anyway, sorry if I over analyzed your game list :(

voted gow but after reading what you wrote thing it should be batman. You don't want to burn out in a game so I"d switch it up for now.

I've given up on my backlog. I have about 300 NES games, and I probably haven't even played about 50 of them. You know you're screwed when you stop counting games you missed, and you start counting trilogies and franchises you missed. Gaming is just too big. I really want to play through Metroid Prime Trilogy before M:OM comes out, but I keep playing WiiWare games because I can finish them in reasonable amounts of time. I finally beat BIT.TRIP VOID two days ago, and part of me felt "oh yay I beat a really fun game!" and another part immediately felt "ugh, what crap is next?"

I say go back and forth between Deadly Premonition and Gears of War 2. Those are probably the slowest and fastest games in your list, so they'll be good for a change of pace. Also, you can play some Deadly Premonition, and then when you want a break or get to a stupid part you can go beat Gears of War 2 and come back. This is how much I over-analyze time management for beating games... instead of beating games.

Don't play GoW 2 if you just finished 1..I'd say go with AA.

btw, GoW 2 is a better game than 1. 4 times the boss battles + more variety FTW !

Oh my god

They should have made Rubang the usual suspect from Heavy Rain, and replaced all the crucifixes on the walls with NES games.

So The Wife is going to Washington D.C. this weekend and I'm left home alone for the weekend.  That means I get to go into recluse mode and play games until Sunday night when she gets home.

So what should I play?

  • God of War 2 - I finished God of War a few days ago and started God of War 2.  I can keep going so if I feel like playing God of War 3 I can play it whenever I'm ready.  I didn't not like God of War but I also didn't think it was the most fantastic thing ever.  My worry here is no matter how good the game is I would be easily burnt out since I just finished God of War (similar to what happened with Mass Effect 1 after playing Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and then going to Mass Effect and doing a complete playthrough.  I never want to touch that damn game again).
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum - I started the game, got about an hour into it, liked it, and then put it down.  About as simple as that.
  • Bioshock 2 - I actually hadn't planned on buying this game anytime soon but The Wife bought it for me because she liked the music in Bioshock.  This is probably one of the few games I can play while she's in the room since she likes the music.
  • Deadly Premonition - I got pissed off at this game last go around but I'm willing to give it another try.
  • Gears of War 2 - It occurred to me a few days ago that I got to the last or next to last mission and never actually finished the game.  Hopefully I'm not too rusty so I can just continue where I left off and finish the game.  The downside to this is that if I'm not as far along as I think I am and it takes a little longer, I might finish the game and not be in the mood to start another.
  • Mass Effect 2 - This would be my second playthough coming off my complete paragon playthrough of Mass Effect.  Additionally, I hear there's a bunch of new content just released so that's a plus.  The downside to this is that a playthrough would take much longer than a weekend.

For me that would be like this:

GeoW2 (if there is only a bit left, why not finish it first?) > GoW2 (if you are eager to play GoW3 as much as I'm) > Batman: AA (I find this game overrated, since I'm not a comic fan...) > ME2 (wait for the hammerhead missions before playthrough, I also agree that there is no going back to the first once you've played the 2nd) > Bioshock 2 (meh) >>>>> Deadly Premonition (seriously?)

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising
