Don't get me wrong, I love Estelle, I just didn't like that scene. Its better in Japanese though. The words were still super corny but the jp voice acter made it sound pretty ok.

As for Sed, I've heard that sh*t so many times in different animes and jrpgs that I really didn't find it any special. In fact, most of these so called "emotional scenes" in LO I found really corny. In particular, the scene where Kaim & Serah reunited, GOD that was soooo corny. I mean, I understand that they haven't seen each other in like 30 years or so but serious, how many times did Serah have to say "I knew there is only one man in this world I loved". She said that sh*t like 5 times man. And then you found out that she doesn't even remember his ass but only knew him through her little journal, serious WTF. She was such a dry character to me. Meh, alot of the characters form LO were dry to me, espeically that king dude (you see, I can't even remember his name, thats how forgettable he was). And WTF was up with Sed calling Seth momma all the time? That was freaking sick man (good thing my good friend Jansen called it out). I use to go to this nursing homes that my mom worked at, and the elderly there acted very similar (except, the nurses they called momma of course, was not their momma). Blah, forget my ranting.

....uh, Seth was Sed's mother, who he hadn't seen in thirty years. Seth's dreams actually dealt with that?

I completly understand that. But like I've said, it was very disturbing to me. Especially when it reminded me of the old men from a nursing home my mom worked at.

....what, you expect him to call her something else because he aged and she didn't? Or does it just seem weird to you to call one's mothr by the same name that one used as a child?

Hell, I still call my Mama "Mama"...

You are in your 20's, he is in his 70's. There is a difference my friend (unless you are older then you claim yourself to be O_O). I'm not saying he can't or shouldn't say that, but its still very disturbing (even more because of the nursing home). Come on, even Jansen said it was disgusting.

Sed is in his late 40's to early 50's, if the timeline presented by the memory wipe is to be believed and we assumed Sed to be a child to young teenager when Gongora zapped Seth. As a point of reference, my own father is about that age and still calls my grandmother "Mama".

Jansen thought it was weird because Seth was ageless. And he stopped thinking it was weird.

Your hang-ups with video games based on personal experience is odd to me.

No offense but as much as I love Final Fantasy 13, the person that wrote that games story should burn in hell and should never write any story ever again.

What does FFXIII have to do with this?

That is actually another part of the reason why I found it disturbing. I'm surprised that Sed is only that old though. He looks much older to me. Even when Jansen brought up the subject he made it sound like Sed was pretty old.

Also, how do you find my supposed "hang-ups with video games based on personal experiance" odd when you have pretty much did the same thing? Through personal experience with your family, you found that Sed calling Seth momma to be completely normal. Through my personal experiance with the nursing home, it was disturbing. That is just the way it is.

But really now, lets just leave this alone. My opinion on this matter won't change (and when I say this matter, I mean the whole "Sed calling Seth momma thing"). I am perfectly willing to try to understand why people felt that LO's storyline and characters were compelling. Even to the point to where I would even be willing to replay LO someday to understand it. Its happened before to me where a second playthough of a game I didn't like much or didn't think was as good as people said it was help me understand what people were talking about and even end up liking the game more myself. That was the purpose of this thread my friend. When I was still playing, I really wanted to like LO as much as everyone else did and I still do.

someone in this thread said that FFXIII characters had good character development. If not then I should go to bed;(

Why do people always treat character development and story as separate entities?????
The way a character develops affects the story.
