Forums - Sony - is the ps3 getting the respect it deserves?

The ps3 was ahead of its time and it was meant to last 10 years...

You will see the ps3 get the respect it deserves by the end of the generation..

Patience.

“Absolutely, we can do much more with it. I don’t know if we are even close to 50 percent of PlayStation 3’s power at this point,” said Asmussen about God of War 3.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

Hi, I have noticed that the ps3 has some high quality games, blu ray, free internet, and so on. why is it that in America that the sales are usually subpar? what more could the public want? the price seems to be right. also it seems to sell relatively well across the rest of the world.

PS3 does not have respect because sony does not have respect for their customers.

1) they use them to force a new medium that is only marginaly better than what was there before.

2) they have idiots as PR who insult their fans by telling them to get second jobs.

3) the high quality games took their sweet time to arrive... not a sign of consistancy for the customer.

4) 300 is still above the launch price of previous gens... how in the hell is that a price that seems right?

The American public has a strong preference for shooters and the 360 generally has a preferred controller for them. The by far top 3 shooters are Halo, Gears, and CoD, only 1 of which is on the PS3. It sells better where shooters aren't the focus.

You have to ask yourself if the 360 added a slot loading blu ray drive, built in wifi, and free online, without raising the price.. what would happen?

If sales = respect (i know thats what the op is suggesting), then the PS3 is getting the respect kicked out of its ass by the 360.

Yes sales are close and PS3 is still winning world wide, but exactly why the 360 is winning week after week in NA (even when supply is not a huge issue for PS3) still remains a huge mystery to me..

It makes me want to slap people, scream, and vomit on my own shoes.
/ end sarcasm. ..?

Huge mystery? Xbox 360 outselling PS3 priced at 399$+ is no mystery. Since the 299$ price drop (september) it is mostly PS3 outselling 360 weeks after weeks everywhere. But I guess it takes 16 weeks PS3 outsellling Xbox to produce the same effect of 3 weeks 360 outselling PS3...

If 360 had a blu ray drive, wifi and free online, it would sell at the PS3 price. Are you sure Microsoft could have sold millions of console at 600$? Both of them at 300$ (no arcade but a new elite with blu ray, wifi and free online), are you sure it would really outsell PS3? Good luck on explaining your answer. Will be easier to think im a fanboy of the Sony defense force. But in fact, im just a regular video games player who is tired of seeing this kind of one sided bullshit.

what would happen lol.

Youre the one that should get slap with your make up facts and half facts.

Um, american sales are low because sony can't stock enough ps3s for some unknown reason..

I think it is just starting to get the respect it deserves.   And its because everyone is starting to relize they are really getting there moneys worth with ps3 games.  I honestly think that ps3 games should stay at 60 dollars.   360 games should be 50 and wii games should be 40 or 45.  its been proven time and time again that ps3 excluves are so miles ahead of 360's.  and now ps3's marketing is better and i guarantee you there will never be another week where 360 outsells ps3 world wide.  ps3 has more staying power because they didnt rush putting out there console and immediatly get rid of its previous genration console.  ps2 is still selling. the original xbox stopped selling like what 4 years ago...sorry for ranting but yes like I said its just starting to get the respect it derserves.  and soon enough it will start outselling 360 in america.

It's getting more than enough. It just happens to also get quite a bit of disrespect as well.

Bingo. As with every console, this here is how it works, though I'd argue that the Wii and PS3 have seen the brunt of disrespect this gen. One for obvious reasons, the other considered a "gimmick". Look how fast both situations have fed many slabs of crow since 2006.

Thats very true, many gamers, for an unknown reason, disrespect the console they dont own. In this case a lot of Xbox gamers disrespect PS3 and both Xbox and PS3 gamers disrespect the Wii. Which is not the case with the general public.
