Not to be the party pooper (Leeeerooyyyy...), but nintedno to me is dominating only one way, moneywise. In terms of games, I don't think they are that amazing this gen, well at least not in terms of the 360 or Ps3 libraries. But opinion is opinion.

"3DS", from what I have read, is a NEXT GEN Nintendo handheld system.

Seeing the DSi/Lyte is still selling better than any other system on the market, it will stay on shelf at probably $150 for a long while.

That means the "3DS", a more capable/powerful handheld system, will cost more and people will buy imo.

Cost-wise for 3DS, I am leaning at $200-250 range opening day. Possible DSi/lyte price break when 3DS comes out.. but maybe not because DSi/lyte sell so well.. Anyways...

Well, they will probably produce the current generation of DS because the cost for the 3DS will be high at launch, consumers who want to play DS games paying for a cheap handheld will probably buy a normal DS, so if the consumer complain about the price he will buy a DSi anyway and upgrade to the 3DS next year. I believe the DSi will survive for a long time (maybe 1 or 2 more years) and there will be more DS/DSi games for the next 2 years because of the big installed base, just take a look at the PS2.
