Forums - Gaming - PC to have best motion controller

Never work. PC main function aren't games. They are Tools that have a large gaming community. This is why the Keyboard+Mouse combo has never changed since it's inception. Giving Motion Controls to a PC even if they were the best of the kind would never change it. PC are about sitting right in front. This is a case where MC are better for consoles. For now. Instead I suspect Camera Tracking devices will we be more common. Such tech has been out for a while on the PC and I suspect that Natal might give it a bit more of a push. Considering that web cams are starting to become standard.

True but not true. It can easily be stated that gaming consoles and handhelds are tools needed to play and display games made for their individual hardware. Just because a computer is made to be an office computer doesnt mean that it is just a tool for office use, it can support some level of PC gaming even if its just a casual level.

Plus there are tons of difference inputs for gaming on PC other than this that are very effective. Like for example the Novint Falcon Controllers.

I don't really agree, Pc will have a nice motion control also, but PC also has the largest price tag, Consoles have come a long way, great grapgics, sound 7.1, DTS , large HD tv, All for a few hundred dollare, PC few thousand dollars for not much of a difference. And continuing to upgrade PC every year. To expensive for me, for not enough return.

Ummmm okay, lol. I disagree, but I'd rather not be the one to turn this into a console vs PC debate so that's all I'm going to say.

rofl...that's not 1:1..you can see the delay on that thing so easy

there can never be true 1:1 because of monitor and input lag. Even if you have a monitor with a 2ms refresh, you still have a 1ms input time from your input device. And thats with top of the line tech with USB 3.0 or e-Sata. Lets ignore wireless signals like IR, wifi, or bluetooth because they have their own lag issues due to broadcast interferance and other factors.

So yes, anyone who says "oh the Wii Motion Plus is true 1:1" is completely incorrect because the general TV, standard def or HDTV, is normally 4 - 5ms for refresh rate. Even at Samsung's 240 or 480Hz refreshing LCD TVs, which yes LED technology is just a backlit LCD TV, have a 2ms refresh as video technology cant produce a 1ms or below refresh yet.

The WM+, PM, Natal, and this are all affected by technical lag caused by its own hardware, hardware its being inputed to, that hardware's video output, and monitor or TV thats receiving the video output.

someone takes things said too literal...

all that, but no games - that's the problem

i agree the mouse is the best

not true, this can easily be supported. It looks like they are running L4D2 which means Valve added support for it or will be adding support for it.

@ ssj12 )

I meant specially developed for motion controls. Shooters might work quite well with it, but .. PC gamers never had a problem there.

Input lag has little to nothing to do with whether controls are 1:1 or not.

1:1 controls mean that your onscreen character mimics/matches your motions by matching player velocity, position and angles of tilt on the X,Y planes for a 2D game or X,Y,Z planes for a game that simulates depth in 3D. You scratch your head with your left index finger, your avatar scratches its head with its left index finger, etc.

True 1:1 controls would be a motion capture system used for film and TV production. Suit with IR markers with cameras capturing the marker movement and translating it into output data for an on screen avatar. You get the picture.

Anyway, a control system, no matter how elaborate, is only as viable as the games that are specifically developed for it in the best case scenario, or the games that add compatibility with the system at the very least.

I'm assuming that if there's to be any default standard for motion controls for PC, it will be Natal, which will be Windows 7 compatible. Won't matter if there are better systems; what matters is which has the largest user base and any MS peripheral has the key advantage on a Windows based platform.

no they dont, they have absolutely zero chance because the 90% of the PC gaming community knows Microsoft blows at programming and is a complete joke at hardware manufacturing. The only reason we stay using Windows is because not all developers support Mac or Linux. Thanks to Valve showing massive support with Steam on Mac, this should change things.

The product above has an insanely good chance of becoming wideless used due to it being made by Razer. Who is well known for quality products and excellent drivers.
