Going by the name, the 3DS must be the spiritual successor of the 3DO.

Since the 3DO was clearly a commercial failure, its successor will follow the same path.

It makes perfect sense.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Not the final name of the hand held. Nintendo is no fool, they will name this something that everyone will recognize.

3DO -> SNES Gen

3DP -> N64 Gen

3DQ -> GC Gen

3DS -> Wii Gen

 

Any more ifs and buts? My logic is sound and water proof.
