I don't see how the ps3 version would have gotten an extra 700k copies sold if it was an exclusive, people need to release its not popular like it was during the ps1 days anymore...
So my clear answer is NO.....
Do you think that Tekken should become PS exclusive again? | |||

| CGI-Quality said: You bolded the part where I said I didn't know for sure. Remember those words, as you don't know either. You never know how a game can perform when people know it is only on one platform, although the industry has proven that exclusives really shape it. Why do you think Wii exclusives perform so much better than any other games on the market? But to the point, that wasn't what I was talking about either way. |
I also edited my post but your quick to read that before I did lol.
Actually I think I do in a way. Tekken 6 was on the PS3 regardless of being multiplatform either way. The audience was there, and the choice was infront of them. Originally Tekken 6 was to be a PS3 exclusive so I'm sure most, if not all, people that have wanted a PS3 and wanted Tekken 6 already got it.
Sure, a price drop to $20ish will draw more people to the game once it drops a lot in price, but the same could be said for both systems. Most people who want the game own it already. It's not a game that is a system seller and doesn't have those legs.
It's just that simple.

OO....then that is just poor management skills from the devs. But unfortunately this is a very common characteristic of alot of games this gen.....release a broken game at launch and fix it with patches the following months......if it was a ps3 exclusive it would have been released a year earlier and it still would have been affected by these problems......so if anything the time on the 360 version gave namco sometime to polish both games , no matter how small the polish is. |
There's really no evidence supporting this for the PS3 version... The damn game needs a 4GB install just to MATCH the 360's load screens.
OT: Namco's Tekken devs have proven to me that they just can't handle multiplat development. If Tekken6 had released earlier, it may have gotten more positive feedback due to lower standards back in 08.

Point taken. Hopefully VGChartz is alive and kickin' and we're both on this site so you can own me in regards to what we discussed.
I believe there can still be a chance of that if Namco thinks a million or so in sales is worth losing, and the only way I can think that were to happen is if Sony gives them "incentives" (IE timed exclusive, or a lot of money to keep Tekken exclusive). Generally sales are just not as hot for fighters as they once were, with the exception of Smash Brothers and Street Fighters (whos true test is Super Street Fighter at $40).
It's just that simple.
There is very little difference in these fighter games: be it Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter and a long string of other fighters. If you have played one of them you have played them all. They are easy to pick up and play and button mash if you are a casual or take an eternity to master if you are seasoned fighter. Those throws and counter attacks and air juggles can take a while to master.
Will the Tekken series become exclusive to the PS3? The quality of the game would need to be significantly improved upon. Tekken 6 had issues in regards to online and load times were another issue and its graphics were ordinary just looked like Tekken 5: DR with a paint job which was an enhanced version of Tekken 5.
In regards to fighting game series are concerned. UFC is the new king of them all. Tekken is no longer number one.
Look at Final Fantasy XIII. Did loosing the exclusivity affected its sales? No. Tekken doesn't need to be a exclusive it need a evolution, the people that buy Tekken are mostly long time fans, but the series has problems to attract new audiences, I guess it's time for a "Street Fighter IV kind of change"

Fixed.
@killzoned
if u believe they r all the same then u r not a fighter canto understand the huge diffrences between them .for me tekken and dead or alive all the way.ufc is so stiff and uncomfortable to play that it's borderline broken in game play IMO
Scrap off the campaign mode and go exclusive, as it should be

Give me proof! As I see it, the PS3 version sold 2.5 million first week and the 360 version did 600K for a total of ~3.1 million. FFXII did 2.8 million first week. So next time you do one of those "Fixed" posts do your research. People will stop paying attention to you =/
