Forums - Gaming - Microsoft Handheld?

All this will also mean Microsoft are in desperate need to sell their own version of a handheld asap dont yall think?

With a 3DS, creating so much hype, is the next big move after their motion sensing >.>

If Microsoft does not, dont yall think all eyes will be on Nintendo and Sony majority of the time?

Eyes will be on Sony and Nintendo the majority of the time*.

*for handhelds.

What does Microsoft care if they aren't in the handheld market?

It appears MS is more interested in introducing gaming on a phone than a stand alone gaming hand held.

Microsoft is focusing on the phone market.

Just want to play good games

I think handhelds would be too far removed from their roots (and interest) and that they'd rather fund even better development for their home console(s) in the future! Which is a good thing, the 360 is nothing short of a massive step up from the x-box.
At this rate, the Nextbox will be an incredible console and likely a first day purchase for me.

Nope.

MS only created xbox to keep Sony from invading their home PC market. They're focused more on software (windows and office) and a handheld gaming device won't assist in that.

For portability they'll continue trying to revamp their mobile phone lines and of course like iphone it has some gaming applications.

I doubt it. Sony's the first one to be able to dent Nintendo's handheld market, and even that was rough ride. I doubt it will happen again for a long while.

Considering Nintendo's stronger than EVER in the handheld arena, I'd say this is highly debatable.  PSP didn't even dent Nintendo.

I highly doubt MS will ever enter the handheld hardware market. I just don't think they really care that much about it and theres nothing wrong with that. They're focusing on delivering the best home console experience that they can provide and are doing a great job so far. Also like everyone else said I think they see handheld market more like how Apple does with the Iphone than Sony and Nintendo do with actual dedicated gaming hardware.
