I really hope 3D is not the next big thing. I just bought a TV and really don't feel like having to upgrade.

panasonic and samsung were first to release their 3d tv and they were sold in the first weeks.

markets reacting to it was positive, many comment it was due avatar.

Yay the death of gaming! Now we get motion control and 3D! WOOHOOO!

Yeah, just freakin' shoot me.

This generation is far from over, my friends.

You guys sound like a couple of oldsters.  Get with the times man.

If the Wii has taught us anything, you can still play old school sidescrolling platformers like NSMB Wii and Wario Land : Shake It! along with motion control heavy games.  The same will be true with 3D.  You'll have both 3D games and games that look like they do now.  Don't worry about it, the best looking graphics don't always = sales.

Both of those will most likely take priority next gen... I'm really not in the mood for 3D TV's or swinging my controller round and round after a busy day at work.

Motion control is going to be the big thing for a little while I think.  Ironically, Nintendo is making games that are less heavy on the motion controls and it looks like Sony and Microsoft are stepping more into that direction.

About 3D, we'll have to take a watch and see approach.  It might or might not catch on.

HD is doing pretty well, I expect 3D to do the same when it's easily affordable. As for motion controls... it all depends on what Nintendo throws at us with their next console.

Everything does better when it's affordable.  Especially when people have less money...

About Nintendo dictating what happens with motion controls, that's already happened.  Next generation they will be the standard.  PS Move and Natal show that all three companies are moving in that direction.

Yes, that is correct.  I cannot speak for the populous at large.

The end of the console generation because a new handheld is announced?

Not necessarily.

Reggie has said that Nintendo will innovate with their next console. What the hell will it use and howwill it affect standards? No freakin idea.

The 8th generations is just around the corner. I believe that once Legend of Zelda is released, the generation is pretty much over.

I suppose that there's a one in a million shot that Nintendo will stop using motion controls, but I highly doubt it.

I do agree that they will try something different though.  Hopefully the don't make their next console look like a purple lunch box.

i dont think publishers see it that way , they invested a lot in to this gen , and the user base to sell their games is NOW optimal they are not going to start from 0 all over again many users recently bought their ps3 and xbox360 the only company that might start early is Nintendo and i think is their only chance to win or have a good head start over SONY and MS, ill stick to my playstation because games will only become harder and harder to make and as ive seen the gameplay suffers and single player only becomes shorter i rather have worse graphics but better gameplay

But I love that purple lunch box! (well, mine is actually black)
