Forums - Nintendo - Zelda Wii to use Vitality sensor? Miyamoto speaks!

Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed the new Legend of Zelda for Wii may use the Vitality Sensor.

Speaking with gamesTM before accepting his BAFTA Fellowship on Friday, he said its inclusion into the game is possible.

“Whenever we are going to use any new device it is possible to expand the appeal to those who are new to the videogaming world,” said Miyamoto.

“At the same time, however, it is also fun to think of ways in which we might apply that new technology to existing forms of gameplay – just like the way we are working on the new Legend Of Zelda together with Wii MotionPlus.”

Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma said earlier this year the game will exclusively use WiiMotionPlus.

Miyamoto further added: “Maybe you might like to ask me to incorporate the Vitality Sensor into Zelda so that as you become more scared, the enemies become even tougher.”

No exact release date has been given for the game yet, but it is expected to be out by the end of this year, according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.

Whatever happens, it will be at E3.

Cannot wait to see how this plays out, I'm thinking it will be used in a puzzle quest like, how calm is Link? the calmer you are the more rupees you earn or something.

That sounds more like a hypothetical than a statement of fact, I don't think he's actually saying Zelda Wii will use VS.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

How are we supposed to play with a wiimote and nunchuk and being in contact with a Vitality Sensor?

Maybe you have to insert the Vitality sensor at certain times i nthe game rather than having it connected to the Wii remote throughout the game.

Then again, the nunchuk has to be disconnected in order to plug in the Vitality Sensor.

What would we do then? Just wave our sword in a thrid person on rail swordplay like in Wii Sports Resort?

Maybe there will be a adapter, so you cna plug both nunchuck and Vitality sesnsor in.

Or the VS we saw is simply a concept, not the final product.

Quite possible what they showed but be just 40% of the finished product it might be more than just a pulse detector.

Yeah and attach it to your earlap

Sounds great! Even if Zelda Wii won't be compatible with VS it shows that Nintendo atleast have thought about using it to change the diffculty in games.

I'm also curious about how you plug in the VS into your wiimote. Would Nintendo even consider using VS in Zelda unless you could use the nunchuck at the same time?
