It's probably just a glitch that allows you to go through objects, I've seen the same done on WoW and on either Halo or Halo2.

If so it's a permanent glitch. But I think that the developers just didn't add clipping to the engine or the objects.

It wasn't finished. The publishers, however, did let it escape into an unexpecting human population before it was even in beta state. Their brilliant management, combined with cheap Russian developers was supposed to produce a situation FULL OF WIN. Well, I think Stellar Stone's website happened to say something like that.
