I have wondered this for a while. I have now seen them add Trophy support to Gow and Gow 2 so it makes me wonder why not have devs add support to PS1 titles added to PSN, I am sure it will easily increase sales for these titles. Hell, even though I own FFVII and FFVIII I would quickly pick them up again just for the chance at some bronze and gold trophies.

You think this would be possible or too much work just to add them in?

This would be the most awesome thing (Short of Valk Chronicles Trophy Support) I can think of for Trophies!

I agree. I own quite a few of the PS1 classics on PSN so I would never spend my money on them, however, if they had some kind of trophy support (Gold trophies for beating Ruby and Emerald in FFVII ) I would give Square-Enix $20 so damn fast!

Absolutely.  I have bought a few of them (Wild Arms, Suikoden, FF7) for my PSPGo. I would buy more if I could get some trophies for playing some damn good games.

 Wonder how it would work with the portable units.  

Could you transfer them to your handheld to gain trophies (have the trophy data saved in your savedata) then xfer them back to the system to update the list?  Thats the biggest snag I could see.

FFVII with trophy support on PSN would be really nice.

Therein lies the issue I guess.

This question of mine dates back to when I played Fable : The Lost Chapters on my XBox360. I wished so badly that they would add achievements to XBox titles.

I wish.  Hell this "could" (and Ill stress could) help out the PSP!  Let the trophy data be saved as part of the savedata, then have the PS3 Sync it to update the trophy list when you start the game. 

Add the parring data to the saved file, to keep hacking/cheating at bay (for the time being atleast)

what if i played them on PSP? you know i've been playing PSone games mostly these days on my PSP.

Anything could help the PSP at this point, but still, I think Sony is missing out on a real opportunity here to shift tons of PS1 classics.

No... they'd have to be ports. Ripping GoW1 from the GoW collection and burning it to a DVD- it wouldn't run on a modded PS2 like a pirated PS2 game.
