Forums - Gaming Discussion - Could SE go 360 exclusive in the US?

Why on earth would SE do that? That's a massive loss in profit.

I'm pretty sure SE learned there lesson the hard way about going 360 exclusive...

Star Ocean: The Last Hope sales in Americas

360: 0.24m

PS3: 0.07m (!)

The majority of Star Ocean fans already bought it for the 360. Unless most of the PS3 owners are waiting for SO4 to hit the bargain bin or something.

Why didn't you show the series numbers before it went 360 "Exclusive"?

Star Ocean 3 in Americas - 520k

And as for comparing a game that's been out for over a year, to a game that's been out for 6 weeks - Lol.

Ok fine let's compare Star Ocean 4's first 5 weeks on the 360 and PS3 since figures for the first 5 weeks is all that's available for the PS3.

PS3 version

1- 33,036
2- 13,577
3- 9,242
4- 7,290
5- 6,991

Total (5 weeks) - 70,136

360 version

1- 72,278

2- 26,912

3- 17,625

4- 10,549

5- 8,057

Total for first 5 weeks - 135,421

The 360 version sold more in week 1 than the PS3 version sold in the first 5 weeks... Clearly, many Star Ocean fans were willing to buy a 360 to play the game.

And what does Star Ocean 3 have to do with this? The PS2's install base was bigger than the PS3's and 360's combined. SO4 was also seen as a step down by many fans of the series. The 360 is not at fault for SO4's sales.

Does the word 360 exclusive ring a bell or are you just incompetent?

360 exclusive is a word? That's two words. You are one to talk.

I don't know why 360 exclusivity is really the culprit. Any exclusivity would have hurt SO4's sales. The PS2 had a much larger install base.
