Forums - Microsoft - Tech Analysis | Splinter Cell: Conviction (576p, 2xMSAA)

I thought it looked good lol and played really well will be picking this up first day.
Whats up with people saying they wont pick it up now or that they are disapointed because of this lol. If you played the demo and didnt like it thats fine but saying your disapointed because of this lol come on.
Play the game and forget the res and honestly you will see that it actually looks good.

We all have been talking about how great the graphics are for MONTHS and this stupid "analysis" comes out and you people get upset? LOL

Who cares?

Anything below 1920*1080p is not true HD. 720p is not even HD. The game can be upscaled to 1920*1080p on a HDTV. The natural resolution of most games is hardly ever in 1920*1080p. You need a Blu-Ray for true HD.
Natural resolution for Splinter Cell: Conviction is only 1024*576p

1280*720p is not true HD. It is actually SD. HD resolution starts at 1920*1080p

Believe it or not, resolution is seriously overrated, while the higher the amount of pixels = crisper, it is just one small aspect of graphics..

Ive seen many ps3 720P games look better than pc games on max resolution and vise-versa

“Absolutely, we can do much more with it. I don’t know if we are even close to 50 percent of PlayStation 3’s power at this point,” said Asmussen about God of War 3.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

MS stated last year that they would no longer force game developers to create games at 720p, so it's not that much of a surprise. And it would only be a serious insult if it ended up coming out on the PS3 at 720p (which it won't), so it still has the potential to be a great game no matter what the res.

Considering the amount they did with regards to lighting, shadows etc... I like it and can accept a drop in res to accommodate it. But I don't think it should become the norm.

sheesh...I thought everyone knew that more pixels makes a better game.
nothing else matters except more pixels per square inch, nothing.

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

I honestly didn't notice this game was less than 720p. Normally I notice this right away as was the case with NG2, Halo 3 and Modern Warfare 1. So I'm actually finding it odd that it's supposedly such a low res. The game looks great and with the exception of a bit of screen tearing is still very visually impressive considering it's UE 2.5, albeit extremely modified.

This again? 720p is HD FFS.

Just because a new higher pixel format comes out it doesn't make the previous non-HD.

Using your knowledge 1080P is Sub Standard Defintion.

Some already mentioned that 720p is not SD (lol), but I'm going to add that you don't need Blu-Ray for Full HD.
