Forums - Sales - So Final Fantasy XIII's western launch is less than Bad Company 2's launch?

“Absolutely, we can do much more with it. I don’t know if we are even close to 50 percent of PlayStation 3’s power at this point,” said Asmussen about God of War 3.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

You have to remember the sales for FF13 are low in japan since its been out for months there, if it had also just released in japan its sales would have been much higher, even tho BC2 probably didnt do to good in japan.

I Hate the fact that all these pillows are contaminated by retard!!

I was under the impression that SE meant fastest selling of all FF games, not everything on the market.
Though that one might also not be correct inlight of previous ones appearing across Japan/US/EU at very large intervals.

These are not good sales (NA&Others) considering the hype and the amount of ads for the 360 version.

Final fantasy isn't that huge in the west. It never was.

Take the Ps2 ones first.

If you exclude Japanese sales (leaving only the west), the best selling Final Fantasy (FFX)sold 5 million. A quick check makes that the 9th best selling game on the Ps2. FFX-2 sold 2.8 million, and FFXII sold 3.2 million. That makes Final Fantasy XII roughly the 45th best selling and and Final Fantasy X-2 the roughly 60th best selling.

Final Fantasy isn't as big in the west as one might think. If we had properly looked at the numbers in advance, this shouldn't come as a huge shock.

Edit: I think it's completely fair to compare the sales of two titles on the same machines. It's not really apples and oranges, more along the lines of red apples vs green apples. Or apples vs pears.

Except all those games did better than every console Battlefield game ever.

ermm

it sold more than FF12 week 1 in the west

FFX's first NPD was below 1 million in the US...

FF13 has done close to 700K week 1 in NA

So S-E's claim is probably true....even though I doubt it did more than FF8 week 1 (thats the fastest selling FF game).

Battlefield is a growing series. Each installment has sold more than the previous, and the last finished at ~ 2 million.

Final Fantasy is a shrinking series. The last one sold ~ 2.8 million.

The fact that the previous Final Fantasy titles have sold more isn't that relevant, as they're moving in opposite directions.

One other thing to add also is that a M-rated(BC2) game sold more than a T-rated(FFXIII).

Once Bad Company 2 sells 1,508,558 first week in the East then this will mean something.
