Forums - Nintendo - Most epic boss battle of Nintendo's history?

Got to agree with those saying Ganon in OOT. Not particularly challenge, but easily the most climatic and atmospheric boss encounter in any game I've played.

I liked the final boss battle in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Ocarina of Time was classic, I will never forget that battle.

It's Ganon from Ocarina of Time, no questions asked.

No, he wasn't particularly hard, but there was something about him that terrified even as it thrilled. I think the biggest part of it is that you never get a very good look at him: the battlefield is damnably dark, and the only luminescent parts of him are his eyes, his sabers, and his tail, which you don't see for most of the fight. He's only fully illuminated by flashes of lightning, which throw him into stark relief so briefly that you never get much more than an impression of what he actually looks like.

It made him much more impressive - and terrifying - than he would have been in a well-lit arena. I wish they'd use that trick again. It worked beautifully, bringing to mind the terror of fighting Ganon in the dark in the original Legend of Zelda, or even in Link to the Past.

And yeah, I'll admit it. When Navi says, "He won't hold me back again! This time, we fight together!" I get goosebumps.

THIS!!

The big teddy monster in Conkers Bad Fur Day on N64..

Currently playing: MAG, Heavy Rain, Infamous

Getting Plat trophies for: Heavy Rain, Infamous, RE5,  Burnout and GOW collection once I get it.

I can't say what it is .... but I can say what it is not.

None of the Mario-Bowzer battles ever seemed epic to me.

My 7 year old son beat Bowser on SMG. Enough said about that.
(We had 80 stars, he wanted to fight Bowser -- so I started it, he took over -- and beat him. It was much tougher to get to the boss fight than the fight itself).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I can't say. It's a spoiler. The game's only been out for 4 months.

                          GETTIN' CHRONOCRUNK

Pixel Art can be fun.

Masked man and pokey from mother 3, Gyygas from earthbound, Culex from Mario Rpg....

I can't pick one.

Gigyas, Earthbound
Ganon, OoT
Zeromus, FF4
Kefka, FF6
I don't know his name, but the boss in Contra III where you have to climb the walls and ceiling to avoid his attacks (I LOVE THAT FIGHT)

I remember those fights the best (go SNES, best system ever!)

If I HAD to choose one, Ganon, but mostly because I did a 3-heart challenge in OoT. Try it sometime, play through the whole game without picking up any hearts or heart pieces (it's one of the only Zelda games that allows you to do it). For easy mode, you can use fairies, for hard mode, only potions/milk, and don't get the defense upgrade. Playing through all of OoT with that was one of my most cherished and memorable gaming experiences (I played semi-easy mode, 1 fairy, but rest potions, no defense upgrade).

Please note I did this with the N64 version, not sure if the Master Quest will let you leave dungeons without picking up hearts.

Medusa from Kid Icarus rocked big time.

Gannon never was too much a challenge but I liked him most in Link to past
