Forums - Sony - SONY chairman wants fruit salad, not popcorn, at cinemas...

I'll support anything that gets fucking popcorn out of the cinema. Why do people go to the cinema to eat? and why do they eat the loudest food in the world? I go to the cinema to watch a great movie or work of art. Not to listen to some fat bint next to me chewing open mouthed on some popcorn.

I'd like to have a veggie bowl with some dip. I mean, having both options doesn't seem like a bad idea. And yes, their is an urgent health issue, especially in America. There are times I go places, and they only have junk food, and since there isn't anything else to eat, I have no other option but to eat junk food.

Movies and snacks have always went well with each other......You go see a movie and smell the popcorn and go hmm finger food.  More profit for the cinemas, so fo rthem great idea. Adding healthier choices would just be another wise step. As people like me would go hm hell ya Ill take a small fruit salad instead of sneaking something in. ( when I actually go not much anymore)

Alright the title is terribley misleading. Nowhere does it say that he wants popcorn gone, and he is just suggesting that they sell this so they will probably appeal to a bigger consumer market.

If I was buying anything supposed to be considered fresh, like fruit and whatnot. I would certainly not touch anything sold by my cinema.

I like this idea.

I always smuggle stuff into the theater anyways. Theaters fault for moving next to a dollar general

Have you ever tried just walking in? Most cinemas where i live don't mind you bringing your own food.

OT: Include it as an option, no need to replace popcorn, etc completely.  Atleast not initially

This. Even if they start offering good food at a cinema, I'll continue to bring my own because it's much cheaper

Michael Lynton, chairman and chief executive of Sony Pictures, says that audiences would be better off nibbling on granola bars, fruit salad, yogurt and vegetable crudités with dips. “I can almost imagine the Romans eating popcorn and drinking Coke at the Colosseum 2,000 years ago,” he told a convention of cinema owners in Las Vegas. “But by bringing healthier snacks into your concession stands you would be helping our country meet an urgent public health need.”
