some people are expecting such big numbers when I'm sure I'm not alone when people just don't have the time or money to get all these games right now. I've yet to get a new game this year don't have money for them and would have an even bigger backlog of games I own if I were able to get any of the massive number of games that I"m interested in. ff might not have great legs in Japan but it's not as bad in the rest of the world.

looks like another +50k week for ps3 over 360. Not that it matters...but the gap is shrinking!!

Incredible week for SCEA:

1. PS3 HW on par with 360 HW, despite 360 FFXIII bundle/ads.

2. PS3 software > 360 software (!!!)

3. Heavy Rain still going strong. :D

Final Fantasy XIII did great, best selling JRPG on the HD consoles this gen. Not that that is shocking considering it's Final Fantasy, but it looks like XIII will outperform past Final Fantasy titles. The PS3 version of XIII will do better than XII did.

You might have to wait a while to really be sure of that one. Let's look at the figures:

Final Fantasy 12:

Week 1: Japan/Americas/Others = 1,819,872/571,945/423,854 = 2,815,671 (~2.82m first week)

Week 2: ------------------>               242,040/151,479/262,789 = 656,308 (~660k second week)

Final Fantasy 13:

Week 1: 1,508,558/405,602/353,279= 2,267439 (~2.27m first week)

Week 2: 187,815/unknown/unknown

The percentage drops for FF12 and FF13 are pretty much identical (87% for both 1st-2nd week in Japan) so I would expect it to follow the same sales pattern in every other region as well. A quick lifetime estimation for FF13 would look like:

JP: 1.92m (without a rerelease or something) Americas: 1.33m Others: 1.19 = ~4.45 million lifetime.

FF12 had a Christmas benefit early on as well. FF13 lucks out with the added sales of the 360 version. The title is obviosuly at a higher price than last gen too.

Pretty much my thoughts, but what's even crazier is that this is with tight supply.

One thing is for sure, this week is PS3's big week. Beyond that they don't have the strength in line up of titles to match this weeks again this year. Unless GT5 comes out this year, which it most likely won't in my opinion.

Any other week and i would say those were great numbers. But this was the first FF game of this gen, so much hype for it over the years. To be happy with just 400k is just weird to me.

They are just NA numbers!

If you combine both versions,from all regions...you already have 3.1 Million.

And it's just started...4-5 million by the end of the month.

A lot of people imported the game,if they didnt,these numbers would probably be 1/3 bigger.

These sales arent dissapointing...no...it's the best selling HD RPG of this generation yet.

this is somewhat flawed. If those people didn't import, the sales in JP would be down while the sales outside JP would be up. However, the total would not change.



MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

BBC and HR holding well in Am. HW great for March. Not nearly 2 to 1 for FF here but Oth. will be a bit less for the red version and a lot less for the green. Are Squeenix happy? Are M$? I doubt it. Just Dance makes Ubi. happy at 2.2 m and counting.

Mass Effect 2 on 360 alone sold more than Final Fantasy XIII on 360+PS3!! Thats really bad for Final Fantasy franchise.
