Forums - Sales - What's with the complete lack of religious protesting about games.

Im really surprised there wasn't more protesting about Bayonnetta. I mean, you're killing angels the whole game, and you're a demon. I know, its not exactly that cut and dry, but from any observer, that's what it appears to be. It suprises me that there was a big hubub over a 10 second sex scene in the first Mass Effect, but nothing when you kill angels for the entirety of the game.

Dante's Inferno doesn't suprise me much because you're actually killing demon's. Not much for people to protest, unless they are the "Pro-Satan" side.

Yeah, that's another one... that baffled me.

Around the Network

i think the churches eventually figured out that they actually advertised products by condemning them, so, their new policy seems to ignore these subjects.

EA was so desperate that they even tried to stage religious protests for Dantes Inferno.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

Because 90% of the time it does f**k all but market the game instead, why do you think R* has a history of infamy with controversial games that sell. This group are also starting to realize that those outside their circle are free to believe what they want so long as it doesn't bother them.

Because they don't know these games exist, they fly so far under their radar

Time for hype

Eh, I'm Christian and I wouldn't have a problem with playing Bayonetta, Darksiders, or Dante's Inferno, of course I wouldn't play them around little kids. They are just video games, so their purpose is to entertain. Although, with a thing like the Da Vinci Code... it kind of rocks the core of Christianity.

Catholics were probably way more offended then Protestants, but there is a difference between fighting angels and demons, and twisting the truth about the core of a religion and then presenting it to the mass public.
