Forums - Sales - What's with the complete lack of religious protesting about games.

I mean, Dante's Inferno and Darksiders... I would think you would expect to hear protests about, but the only Dante's inferno controversy was one where people were made that EA MADE UP a controversy about it.

I feel like, as early as last generation there would of been all sorts of protesting.

It's not like these games were small budget, I mean Dante's Inferno had a friggen Superbowl add.

I mean sure, Shin Megami Tensei games also sort of have a Christian vibe going on because all the Christian angels and demons are in there combined with your choices generally seeming to be if you want to follow god or Satan, but those games are still really uner the radar.

This had a superbowl add.

Your complaining about a group of people not complaining about some games?

I find that religious protesting of "Corruptive Media" in general has gone down...They don't have to play them, they don't have to watch the movie, listen to the CD, read the book. Sometimes it's better to pick battles carefully and fight them hard, than it is to just protest everything found to be...Hellacious

Just waiting for that PS Vita to come out so I can play some full featured games on the go with that beautiful screen and control scheme...

I'm not complaing about it... I think it's a good things.  I'm just shocked it didn't happen.  I mean, if nobody really is going to complain, it's a whole new setting that could be taken a lot more seriously and interstingly particularly with modern day settings.

It's just... weird.

I mean, heck, didn't Christian groups protest the Da Vinchi Code?  That wasn't that long ago.

Heck Christian groups used to protest completely non religious videogames as all kinds of evil.

I'm just wondering if people see these as flukes, or if Christian "mythology" is now really open for ideas in games... well games not made by Wisdom Tree anyway.

Im really surprised there wasn't more protesting about Bayonnetta. I mean, you're killing angels the whole game, and you're a demon. I know, its not exactly that cut and dry, but from any observer, that's what it appears to be. It suprises me that there was a big hubub over a 10 second sex scene in the first Mass Effect, but nothing when you kill angels for the entirety of the game.

Dante's Inferno doesn't suprise me much because you're actually killing demon's. Not much for people to protest, unless they are the "Pro-Satan" side.

Owner of PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Switch, PS Vita, and 3DS

Maybe they're offended by sex on TV again or something. I dunno.

Considering that their complaining only gave the games free advertising maybe they caught on that not complaining is better.

Because people cannot be arsed....its that simple..
Not everyone wants to bitch about something 24/7
